On the edge of the Pikmar lies this cottage: an authentic wooden summer house built in 1934, attractively decorated and completely detached. You will stay in a cozy, bright house overlooking the water. Wooden walls, simple details and the original layout give Iris a warm, nostalgic character. You reach the cottage on foot via the summer polder or by boat. Inside is a nice living room with waterfront windows, a compact kitchenette and a pleasant sleeping area. Simple, but complete - just enough to slow down. Outside, you sit on your waterfront terrace, with the freedom of your own headland. You hear birds, the reeds and sometimes see a deer in the meadows. Iris is a place where time seems to stand still for a moment: for reading, boating, swimming, walking or just nothing. A small paradise for peace seekers and nature lovers.
Nature and surroundings
This nature house is located on De Burd, a green and watery island area south of Grou. The Pikmar lies between Grou and De Burd and is the entrance to the Frisian lake district. You are staying here in the middle of National Park De Alde Feanen, surrounded by reed beds, meadows and open water. From the cottage you can walk straight into nature or step into a (rental) boat to explore the Pikmar and the canals and lakes around it. Many bird species live in the area, such as reed warblers, coots and common terns. Count on wide views, beautiful sunsets and plenty of opportunities for boating, swimming, hiking and cycling. Grou is nearby for shopping and cozy restaurants - but on De Burd prevails above all: silence, space and nature.
