Nature house in Aalten

This nature house is a stylish eco-friendly vacation home situated on a centuries-old sandy path in a lush es. The pavilion stands freestanding on a large, fenced-in private property. The right wing features a bel-etage and a basement. While the right wing is arranged like a complex puzzle, the left wing consists of a single open space with a living room featuring four-meter-high ceilings. On the bel-etage, there’s a large alcove where you can retreat to read a book, have a good conversation, or gaze outside. The bel-etage also features the large bathroom and the master bedroom with a balcony, where you can welcome the morning sun. A flood of light pours into the basement, which features two spacious bedrooms, a small bathroom, and a utility room. The master bedroom has an alcove containing a fold-up bunk bed. This allows the room to be transformed in an instant from a spacious double room into a smart four-person room. This nature house is biobased, circular, and energy-positive.

The house is located in the beautiful Winterswijk National Landscape, but you can also reach the Markt in Aalten in no time. The 5,000 m² private grounds feature a natural landscape with hedgerows, copses, and tall grass rich in herbs; the grass is kept short immediately around the pavilion. The Winterswijk National Landscape stretches from Aalten and Groenlo to the German border. It is an ancient bocage landscape featuring many ash trees, copses, avenues, hedgerows, and occasional raised bogs. Near Ratum, there is a large, open quarry where Tertiary-era fossils can be found right at the surface. The charming esdorp of Aalten is rich in cultural and historical heritage and features a lovely old market square with various cafés, bistros, and restaurants. The former manor and the tiny fortified town of Bredevoort are located three kilometers from the pavilion, a wonderful walk through the beautiful countryside. Bredevoort is also known as the “book town” because of its antiquarian bookshops and secondhand bookstores.
