Hidden away in the sleepy country village of Ivergny (330km from Utrecht) is our écurie (horse stable) converted into a gîte. Behind a private gate you park the car, walk through the orchard and along the vegetable garden to the entrance on a covered terrace. Through the terrace doors you enter the living room with vaulted ceiling. Here is a sofa which can be converted into a sofa bed (width 1.40m). Several elements of the original stable from 1892 are still present, such as the feeding troughs and rack. The open kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, induction hob, oven, fridge with freezer, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, various kitchen utensils and (antique) crockery. Behind the antique doors is the bedroom with comfortable double bed (2 single beds available on request). Bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The cottage has a private garden (250m2) with furniture and BBQ. Rent includes 20kWh electricity p/day.
Nature and surroundings
The property covers 2 acres. Here live rabbits, hares, pheasants, ermines, weasels, hedgehogs, moles and squirrels. In summer, we are visited by deer and foxes from the Fôret de Lucheux. Many different species of birds, dragonflies and frogs. At night, barn owls -who have lived in the hay barn for more than 80 years- and bats come out. Furthermore, 2 donkeys, a cow with calf, chickens scampering around, cats and a dog. Peace and quiet and beautiful starry nights (Milky Way!). Lovely place to muse, read a book or write. Suggested outings: walking or cycling through the rolling farmland, nearby forest with Roman road, brocantes in the surrounding villages, medieval town of Lucheux (5km), underground town of Naours (30km), Remembrance Route WW1, Arras (30km), Amiens (40km), the coast (Côte d'opale) (70km). The nearest stores are 10min drive. For weekly bookings, there is a breakfast package for the 1st morning after arrival.
