Nature house in Gerolstein-Hinterhausen

It’s a cozy, but very pleasant little house. Spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the beds are okay. It’s nice that there’s a washing machine and a BBQ (with charcoal!).
What we really missed were fly screens. There were only fly screens in the bedrooms. Because of that, we couldn’t open the doors (it was very hot) because otherwise we’d have had over 30 flies inside within 5 minutes. A fly screen on the bathroom window would also have been very nice.
Upon arrival, the gray trash bin was already almost full. There was no information anywhere about when it gets emptied. There was no green recycling bin. Plastic isn’t collected separately—only gray trash and paper.

It was a nice cottage, but not what we’re used to from a nature house.
The vacation park consists mainly of private cottages and is occupied almost exclusively by Dutch people. The facilities (which actually belong to the campground) are old and out of service.
Would we come back here? For the surroundings: yes. For the cottage itself: no.

Het is een knus, maar heel gezellig huisje. Perfect schoon. Keuken is goed uitgerust, bedden zijn oké. Fijn dat er een wasmachine en bbq is (met houtskool!)
Wat we wel erg gemist hebben zijn horren. Nu waren er alleen in de slaapkamers een hor. Je kon daardoor de deuren niet open zetten (het was erg warm) want anders had je binnen 5 minuten ruim 30 vliegen binnen. Een hor bij het badkamerraam zou ook erg prettig geweest zijn.
Bij aankomst zat de grijze container al vrijwel vol. Nergens stond vermeld wanneer hij geleegd wordt. Groene container was niet aanwezig. Plastic wordt niet apart ingezameld. Dus alleen grijs en papier.

Het was een goed huisje, maar niet zoals we van een natuurhuisje gewend zijn.
Het vakantiepark bestaat verder voornamelijk uit privé huisjes en wordt bezet door vrijwel alleen Nederlanders. De faciliteiten (horen eigenlijk bij de camping) zijn oud/buiten gebruik.
Zouden we hier terugkomen? Voor de omgeving: ja. Voor het huisje zelf: nee.

The surroundings are beautiful. The vacation park is nestled in the heart of nature. That also means you have to drive 5 km to find a store.
The cottage is part of a semi-detached house (which used to be a single house). This means that in the backyard, you’re just one or two meters away from the neighbors and can literally hear everything they’re doing. (TV, phone, conversations).
The area itself is beautiful, hilly, rural, and wooded. I wouldn’t recommend biking without electric assist. Riding a motorcycle is great in the Eifel. There are many castles and ruins.

De omgeving is prachtig. Het vakantiepark ligt midden in de natuur. Dat betekent dus ook dat je 5 km moet rijden voor een winkel.
Het huisje is een deel van een twee onder één kap woning (voorheen zelfs één woning). Dit betekent dat je in de achtertuin gewoon op een of twee meter afstand van de buren zit en alles letterlijk kunt volgen. (Tv, telefoon, gesprekken).
Het gebied zelf is prachtig, heuvelachtig, landelijk en bos. Fietsen zonder trapondersteuning zou ik niet aanraden. Motorrijden is super in de Eifel. Veel kastelen/ruïnes.

"Little Home" felt right away, we were warmly welcomed with a bottle of wine and a card. You have a lovely living room to rest and in the garden you can BBQ well and enjoy a woodpecker in the garden. The cottage has all the facilities and the beds were lovely. A pity we did not get the heating on in the bedroom, which made it a little too cold. One downside was that the oven was very dirty inside, the oil was still on the plate. The faucet in the kitchen is also loose and the trash can outside was completely full. Aside from these sloppinesses, it was absolutely perfect! We will definitely come back again.

"Little Home" voelde meteen goed, we werden warm welkom geheten met een flesje wijn en een kaartje. Je hebt er een heerlijke woonkamer om uit te rusten en in de tuin kan je goed BBQ-en en genieten van een specht in de tuin. Het huisje is van alle faciliteiten voorzien en de bedden waren heerlijk. Wel jammer dat we de verwarming niet aankregen in de slaapkamer, waardoor het iets te koud was. Een minpunt was wel dat de oven erg vies was van binnen, de olie lag nog op de plaat. De kraan in de keuken zit ook los en de afvalbak buiten was helemaal vol. Naast deze slordigheden, was het helemaal perfect! We komen zeker nog eens terug.

What a beautiful setting, in the middle of nature. You can hear the birds singing and what a tranquility, really be able to recharge. Within walking distance you have beautiful hiking trails: such as the Gerolsteiner Eight Hike. Highly recommended!

Wat een prachtige omgeving, midden in de natuur. De vogels hoor je fluiten en wat een rust, echt even kunnen opladen. Op loopafstand heb je prachtige wandelroutes: zoals de Gerolsteiner Acht Wandeling. Een échte aanrader!
