Welcome to the beautiful nature house the Swallow. Under architecture built recreation house from the 70's. Glass all around and overlooking the garden. The cottage is freely situated in a small park. It lies on the edge of the Dark Sky area and through the backyard you can walk to the marina, the woods and the Lauwersmeer. In the garden you are sheltered and there are many birds. Even the kingfisher has been spotted.The house is 55m2 and modern in style.The living room has a spacious corner sofa, heating and a wood stove (bring your own wood).The kitchen is new and has an induction stove, fridge, freezer and dishwasher.There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed of 140 wide and the other has a sofa bed of 1.40 cm wide.There is a small bathroom with shower, sink and toilet.Please note: there is no TV. We like that: you can e.g. listen to music, play games and watch the wood stove ;-) There is wifi.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is close to the Wadden Sea and is surrounded by nature reserve, very suitable for birdwatchers. The Wadden World Heritage Center (WEC) recently opened, with beautiful and informative films and animations about the history of this unique nature reserve and the seal sanctuary. Near the Wadden Sea you have several restaurants, you can take the boat to Schiermonnikoog, or walk on the pier. In the Dark Sky area you can watch stars and sometimes even the northern lights. Deer live there and many species of birds, and of course there is the marina. Also there a restaurant, with laundry and bike rental. 5 km away is "The Rug" there you can include a planetary tour and there is a restaurant. Zoutkamp and Dokkum are nice places to visit.
