Tiny house The cottage is probably more than a hundred years old and was used for shelter during bad weather or to spend the night when there was a lot of work to be done on the land. In and around the cottage the wooden poles still stick out of the walls, this is where the donkeys were attached. Here you can enjoy peace and quiet and a view of the old monastery built on the "red mountain" Mont Roig. You feel like you are in the middle of nature and it seems far away from everything because of its sheltered location. It is a small house where a narrow staircase takes you to the sleeping quarters. Here there is a double and a single bed. The cottage has an indoor and outdoor shower (with fantastic views), a covered porch, a small air conditioner and underfloor heating. Cell phone reception and wifi are not optimal so you are completely off-grid. The owner Hans Dekker lives behind it, easy for tips and questions.

Nature and surroundings

Mont Roig del Camp The village of Mont Roig is 2 minutes by car towards the sea and the beach. Mont Roig means "Red Mountain" in Catalan. The outline of the village with its striking dome of the cathedral can be seen from far away. In the village there are several cafes where you can always eat . Bar Plaza is certainly the best, delicious coffee and good meals from early morning until late at night. The monastery "L'ermita de Mare de deu de la Roca. It is built in a seemingly impossible place and you can get there by car but you can also walk there by an old path from the cottage. The monastery is at an altitude of 293 meters. It dates from 1230 and has two chapels, both of which can be visited. In the largest chapel is a black madonna. The large terrace near the chapel sometimes hosts concerts in the summer and you can also get married here. There is a restaurant located there with good Catalan food at normal prices.

Small and compact. Floor heating is comfortable in spring. Steep stairs to bedroom floor no problem for us but when you are less mobile.

    Nature, peace & environment: 4 /5

    Very compact, cozy cottage.

I am not sure what activities can be done in the vicinity. We walked up to the monastery, enjoyed the sun and some wine and hiked to the light house of Salou (Camí de Ronda, I think it was called). But sure you can do cycling, mountain biking and sailing here to. My birding app heard a wryneck (special woodpecker) which I did not happen to get an eye on, unfortunately.

    Nature, peace & environment: 5 /5

If you’re fit to climb a ladder to the bedroom on the first floor, if you enjoy a little comfy living room, if you like a big garden, many birds and no people around, like we do, you will be thrilled by this little white tiny house. Did I mention the warm water shower outside?

    Lovely cottage!

What a lovely little house! Small, but very smart and furnished with lots of taste and love. The underfloor heating was very nice, as it would otherwise be cold in winter. The terrace was also great - just like the weather, so we could sit outside during the day. Hans, thanks for the pleasant stay and who knows, maybe next time!
