At a stone's throw from the former borg Dijksterhuis, just outside Pieterburen, we built a wooden cottage, the Dijksterhuisje. With kilometers far -and free- views to the dike, people say it feels like you've landed at the end of the world.The cottage has 2 bedrooms and 4 of the 5 beds are extra long. Bed and kitchen linen is included, bring your own bath towels. The kitchen is simple but complete. There is a kettle, Nespresso machine, filter coffee machine, induction stove, fridge-freezer and microwave oven. Everything works on 100% green electricity.In the adjacent shipping container is a wellness area furnished with a very spacious Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, a rain shower and a plunge pool and relaxing chairs on the wooden decking. The use of this is included in the price. For €7.50 pp you can add a sauna bathrobe and hamam towel. Using the sauna in this special setting is a very soothing experience!
Nature and surroundings
A mixture of grain and flowers has been sown on the land in front of the cottage. The seeds provide food for field birds in the winter. Animals regularly pass by; deer, hares, pheasants and many other birds. The sunset is different every day and the clouds grand and impressive. Nature, peace & environment:Pure nature and yet very luxurious. Just enjoy the wide view and the quiet, while having a very nice solar powered sauna to relax. Nature, peace & environment:My 2 daughters (10 and 13) and I stayed in this lovely cottage for 5 days around New Year's Eve. The weather made for dramatic skies, lots of wind, a very thin layer of snow and wet windows. But inside it was warm and cozy. We enjoyed the beautiful view, the deer that came to graze on the akers, the egrets and the cat that was very eager to give heads. The sauna was really the icing on the cake, although we skipped the cold plunge pool outside for a while.
