Want to completely unwind? Then leave today’s hectic world behind and travel 65 years back in time. Experience the peace and quiet that was so common back then. Enjoy the fresh air and the sheep in your backyard. An apartment has been created in an outbuilding next to our house. In this little cottage, you can relive the good old days. Everything is furnished in the style of that era. You can even read a newspaper from 1946! Compared to “back then,” this cottage does have hot water, a shower, and a refrigerator! On the ground floor, there’s a cozy living room/kitchen, a toilet, and the shower. From the living room, you step out into your garden with a southwest-facing terrace. So you get to enjoy a sunset every evening. On the first floor is the bedroom with a sink. There’s a private bike shed with a power outlet. Two basic bikes with gears are also available. (Free of charge) Prices for 2026: The first 2 nights are €135 per night; the 3rd night costs just €60! No deposit, no extra charges!
Nature and surroundings
Our cottage is located on the outskirts of Tricht, a small village in the Betuwe region on the Linge River, right in the heart of the Netherlands’ fruit-growing region. Geldermalsen Station is 2 km away. It’s a great base for cycling and/or hiking trips all year round. Be sure to try a “klompenpad” (clog trail)! This area is also popular with birdwatchers and canoeists. Just a stone’s throw away is the Mariënwaerdt Estate. Looking to soak up some culture? Fun towns to visit include: Buren, Beesd, Acquoy, Gellicum, Asperen, Wijk bij Duurstede, and Culemborg. Do you love dikes and river landscapes? Then you couldn’t find a better place! You’re situated between the Linge, Lek, and Waal rivers. In this area, you can visit many forts of the Dutch Water Line. In the spring, you can enjoy the beautiful blossoms here. Be sure to visit a fun flower or fruit-picking garden. Along the way, you can buy your own vegetables, fruit, and eggs at one of the many local farms. So even if the weather isn’t great, there’s still plenty to do!

There wasn't much to complain about: a lovely little house and kind owners.
Er was weinig op aan te merken: mooi huisje en lieve eigenaren.
We had a wonderful weekend at this cottage, “Destijds.” It was like a trip back in time, with so many familiar things in the cottage. The cottage is also located in a very beautiful and, above all, peaceful setting. The hosts were incredibly friendly, and we received a very warm welcome—even before we arrived, their email had already made us feel very welcome.

Beautiful and nostalgic cottage with beautiful greenery behind the house.
Mooi en nostalgisch huisje met mooi groen achter het huis.
What a wonderful long weekend we had in 'Des tijd'. Those who love 'the good old days' are in the right place. A museum house but with comforts of today. A nice place to relax. Delicious in nature. You can cycle beautifully. Enjoyed the last blossoms at the famous Appeldijk. Mariënwaerdt estate, celebrating King's Day in Buren. It was really nice.
Landgoed Mariënwaerdt, Koningsdag vieren in Buren. Het was echt fijn.
