Very quietly located nature house on 1 ha of private land on both sides of the river Nohain, with large, biodiverse garden and swimming pool. Modern conveniences but cozy, simple and rustic. Wood-fired hot tub next to pool. The house has two bathrooms, downstairs (white/grey bathroom in photo) with toilet and shower, upstairs (pinkish bathroom in photo) with bath and bidet. Upstairs two bedrooms, the first with double bed, desk and closet, the second with two single beds and closet. Very nice rural area, with nice villages, hundreds of old churches and delicious wine. Lovely for walking and cycling. Some of the highlights are the villages of Sancerre and Pouilly, the Loire, Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye (especially if you like ceramics), the croissants and patisserie in Donzy (9 km away the nearest village with a good Intermarché, bakery, cafe mill for nut oil, and other stores), and the kingfisher and beavers along our own stretch of river. And in summer the "vide-greniers" (flea markets) in the area (see brocabrac.fr). But we ourselves like to spend days in the garden reading a book, playing games, swimming, bbqing and admiring plants :)

All in all, we had a wonderful week. Unfortunately, the start wasn’t so great: when we arrived, the pool was green and murky, and it didn’t become truly clear until four days later. Since the private pool was a major reason for our booking, that was disappointing. There were also a few minor issues with cleaning and maintenance. Fortunately, the landlord took these issues seriously, remained easy to reach, called in help, and offered appropriate compensation on his own initiative. Despite the rocky start, we can still look back on a wonderful vacation.
We hebben uiteindelijk een fijne week gehad. De start was helaas minder prettig: bij aankomst was het zwembad groen en troebel en pas vier dagen later echt helder. Omdat het privézwembad een belangrijke reden voor onze boeking was, was dat teleurstellend. Ook waren er enkele schoonmaak- en onderhoudspuntjes. De verhuurder heeft dit gelukkig serieus opgepakt, bleef goed bereikbaar, schakelde hulp in en bood uit eigen beweging een passende compensatie aan. Ondanks de lastige start kijken we daarom toch terug op een mooie vakantie.
