At the foot of the castle, at the edge of the village, overlooking the forest and feet almost in the water you will find our house. In the village, next to the castle, there is a bakery, a butcher, a small supermarket, two restaurants, a "breakfast cafe" as well as a pharmacy. We have decorated the house as cozy and comfortable as possible, it has two bedrooms with double beds and very comfortable mattresses. Two bathrooms: 1 with shower and 1 with bathtub. In addition, there is a conservatory including a dining table with French doors to the garden, which is fully fenced and safe for dogs. There are two small living rooms, 1 on the ground floor with a wood stove and 1 upstairs with bookcase and plenty of seating. There is central heating throughout the house, so the house is definitely suitable for the colder months too! There is a solar water heater that heats the water. Outdoor furniture is available on the terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a stove, two ovens and dishwasher.

Nature and surroundings

The house is located in the Perigord Vert, the green and less discovered and therefore quieter part of the Dordogne. Jumilhac Le Grand is located in the nature reserve 'Parc Naturel Regional Perigor-Limousin'. 100m from the house is the small river l'isle; you can possibly swim under the bridge! There is a picnic area by the river where you may find gold. At 150m from the house you walk into the forest and you can take long walks and mountain biking. Biking, swimming in lakes, kayaking, SUP, rock climbing and horseback riding: plenty to do! In the neighborhood there is plenty organized throughout the year; markets with delicious local products, fairs, concerts in the castle, performances on squares and in community centers. Pleasant evenings at long tables in the villages, with food trucks and music! In Jumilhac, a public swimming pool is open in July and August.

Nice, cozy and characteristic old house. Very fully equipped with several rooms to be in. Enclosed garden is nice and perfect for the dog. Ceilings and doorways a bit low for tall people. Location directly on a through road took some getting used to, but we were not bothered by it at all. Very quiet and you can walk straight into the forest. Contactless check-in with fine and personal communication with the landlord. We had a wonderful week. We would highly recommend it.

The old part of the house stays cool during the summer heat because of the thick walls. Unfortunately, no comfortable chairs and also no possibility to eat outside at the table. Only a rain shower, which I find impractical. Good washing machine. Watch out for the low doorways!

Wonderfully quiet with spacious garden and views, though located along a, not busy, road (with French diesel cars).

A lovely cottage in a quiet and cheerful setting in the Périgord. The cottage is tastefully and well decorated and fully equipped. The kitchen has good quality appliances and supplies and the essentials are there. The bathrooms are pleasant and nicely decorated. The garden is beautiful and large with a nice location in the small valley. A short walk away is the castle of Jumilhac with nice tour and interesting history. The village also has a good bakery and butcher and an excellent pharmacy. We really enjoyed ourselves!

You can stay here without personal contact with the host, for example via a key safe or digital access. A contactless stay does not always have to be mandatory.
What does “Fireworks-free” mean?
The host indicates that the area is firework-free. Firework-free means that no firework bangs can be heard in and around the accommodation.
