Yurt Shiitake is a nice 35m2 cottage in a cozy and quiet campsite with 12 other yurts. The yurt itself has natural materials and atmosphere inside. It has a loam floor, there is a wood stove with sheepskins and lots of plants. On the bench or at the picnic table in the garden you can enjoy the beautiful view in the sun with a hot cup of tea. The kitchen is quite simple. There is no water heater, so hot water in the yurt can be boiled with the kettle. In the common room there is a refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher and hot water. There are also 2 washing machines and a dryer in the toilet building (free to use). And wonderful showers! I have a very sweet cat, Sjakie. Caring for Sjakie does not require much, as there is an automatic cat food machine. However, a daily cuddle session he greatly appreciates!
Nature and surroundings
Yurt Shiitake is located at the back of the campsite among the trees. The place gives a very quiet and private feeling. The yurt is completely and personally decorated with natural materials. Around the yurt is a beautiful permaculture garden with a lawn, a bench and a lovely view. Just a short walk from the yurt you will find the floodplains with access to the river. Very nice area for a walk or a swim! Across the river (with a very cozy ferry) you will find the beautiful forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Here you can also enjoy hiking, forest bathing, running or mountain biking. Furthermore, there are a number of beautiful villages in the area that are nice to visit. In Wijk bij Duurstede, for example, you can have a nice cup of coffee at the Graanschuur. Very nice place and super nice village to walk through. Buren & Culemborg (organic farm Caetshage) are also recommended! Other tips: Thedingsweerd & Zuylestein estate.
