Shiitake is a lovely 35-square-meter yurt/ger located on a cozy and peaceful campground with 12 other yurts. The interior of the yurt features natural materials and a cozy atmosphere. It has an earthen floor, a wood stove with sheepskins, and plenty of plants. You can relax on the bench or at the picnic table in the garden, enjoying the beautiful view in the sunshine with a warm cup of tea. The kitchen is fairly simple. There’s no water heater, so you’ll need to boil water in the kettle to get hot water in the yurt. Cooking is done on a gas stove, and kitchen utensils are, of course, provided. The common area does have a refrigerator with a freezer, a dishwasher, and hot water. There are also two washing machines and a dryer in the restroom building (free to use). And wonderful showers! We have a very sweet cat named Sjakie. Feel free to go away for a few days, as there’s an automatic cat feeder. He likes to do his own thing and spends a lot of time outside, but he really appreciates a good cuddle session!
Nature and surroundings
Yurt Shiitake is located at the back of the campground among the trees. The spot offers a very peaceful and private atmosphere. The yurt is fully and personally furnished with natural materials. Surrounding the yurt is a beautiful permaculture garden with a small lawn, a bench, and a lovely view. A great place to relax surrounded by nature! Just a short walk from the yurt, you’ll find the floodplains with access to the river. It’s a beautiful area for a walk or a swim! Across the river (via a very charming little ferry) lie the beautiful forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. This is also a great spot for hiking, forest bathing, running, or mountain biking. There are also several charming villages in the area that are worth visiting. In Wijk bij Duurstede, for example, you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee at De Graanschuur. It’s a really nice little spot, and the village itself is lovely to stroll through. Buren and Culemborg (Caetshage organic farm) are also highly recommended! Other tips: Thedingsweerd and Landgoed Zuylestein.

Free cancellation within 7 days of your booking confirmation, provided the booking request was made more than 28 days before the start date. For bookings starting within 28 days, free cancellation applies within 24 hours. If you cancel within the specified period, you are entitled to a full refund of the booking amount.
After that, you will receive a partial refund of the trip cost and a 100% refund of the deposit:
• Up to 42 days before arrival: 70% refund
• 42–28 days before arrival: 40% refund
• 28 days through the day of arrival: 10% refund
• On the day of arrival or later: no refund
A deposit of €100.00 applies. You will be refunded after check-out.
