To the right of the kitchen is the spacious, bright living/bedroom with a wood stove (and underfloor heating) and a view of the garden with its walnut tree. You’ll sleep soundly on the two Auping mattresses. Or you can curl up on the couch by the window near the wood stove with a good book from the bookshelf or a movie on the smart TV. Adjacent to the living area is the second bedroom, which is also spacious and bright, offering a beautiful view of the green Waaldijk. Outside next to the entrance is a bench, and the front yard also features a seating area and a picnic table. A fire pit and BBQ are provided.
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located in our farmhouse at the foot of the green Waaldijk. We live with our children in the back part of the house. Chickens and cats roam freely around our yard; feel free to pick an egg. Our two horses graze in the meadow. You can easily walk along the Waaldijk to various small beaches on the Waal River. You can walk or bike endlessly along the dike to beautiful old fortified towns like Gorinchem and Zaltbommel. A favorite is the Lingeroute, which winds along meandering dikes, through old, cozy villages, and alongside the beautiful Linge River. Blossoms in the spring, apples in the fall. There are plenty of charming places to eat and drink along the way, especially on the beautiful Marienwaerdt estate in Beesd. Rotterdam, Utrecht, Dordrecht, and ‘s-Hertogenbosch are about a half-hour drive away, and Amsterdam is 50 minutes away. Afterward, it’s wonderful to come home to the peace and quiet of this nature house!
