Our cabin is located 350 m from our campground, so the restrooms are also that far away (and are shared with another cabin). However, there is a stream 40 m from the lookout tower where you can wash your hands. The lookout tower has a dome with a transparent roof, so you can gaze at the stars since there is no light pollution. The lookout tower is 4 m high; please be careful on the stairs. You can also build a small campfire and have a barbecue; there are two chairs and a wooden table. The lookout is designed for camping, so you’ll need a sleeping bag—a mattress is provided. No Wi-Fi, no electricity—it’s a return to nature. During camping season, there’s more activity. It’s like wild camping. The stairs are a bit steep. If you’re looking for a change of scenery while still having the peace of mind that the campground is nearby—with managers who ensure quiet hours— and the pleasure of welcoming nature lovers and hikers, total seclusion.

Nature and surroundings

The Mirador grounds consist of a 2-hectare wild meadow, crossed by a stream and bordering the forest. With a little luck and patience, you may spot wild boars, deer, wildcats, foxes, badgers, or all kinds of birds. Our small, family-friendly campground, with a capacity of 50 sites, is located 400 meters away. You can get there by train and then by bus. Every year, we plant trees to create an arboretum. If the idea appeals to you, you’re always welcome to come and plant something you’d like. Depending on the weather, wear appropriate shoes and pack light; there’s a cart available to take you to the lookout (a 400-meter walk). During peak season, the nearby forest trail may bring more hikers close to the lookout; the vegetation hides the spot fairly well. Be sure to bring a good sleeping bag, a flashlight, and mosquito repellent in the summer. During the tourist season, the campground gets busier.

Just enough space to sleep and admire the stars or a thunderstorm. It’s wonderful to cook dinner over a campfire in the evening. The owners are very friendly and offered us alternative accommodations when a severe thunderstorm was approaching. Fortunately, we didn’t need it.

What a wonderful spot!! It's a little way off the campground, so you really feel like you're out in nature, and close enough if needed. By the way, it's a really nice campground, too!
