The small village of Santa Bárbara de Nexe in the district of Faro with its approx. 4,100 inhabitants (2001) is located in the middle of a garden landscape about 10 km northwest of Faro and only 2 km north of the IP1 highway. Once you have left Faro and its suburbs behind you, you will be immersed in a green and colorful meadow landscape with almond trees, which is still very unspoilt. The noisy tourism of many coastal towns is not at home in this tranquil area. The village also has another natural advantage: it lies just below a range of hills some 370 m high - but still high enough for you to look down on the city of Faro and the Atlantic Ocean. The view to the south across the plain is fantastic, even at night when the lights of Faro shimmer on the horizon.
