Unfortunately, the weather didn't play along, it was snowing and very cold. I was a bit at war with the stove and it wasn't really warm in the house. I therefore had to use the electric heating at the same time, which is quite expensive. I also found the mattress very uncomfortable, I'm not used to such soft mattresses. All in all, however, the house is beautiful, very clean, equipped with everything you need and with very nice furniture. I loved the shower! The covered outdoor seating area behind the house is sheltered from the wind and with the right clothes or a blanket I was able to sit outside in the evening. And of course you can't forget Erna and Jacco, the landlords. They are so refreshingly friendly and helpful, I immediately took them to my heart. Even though the language barrier was a hindrance, as I hardly speak any French and no Dutch, they both went to great lengths and thank goodness Jacco speaks quite good German.

Leider hat das Wetter nicht so mitgespielt, es hat geschneit und war sehr kalt. Mit dem Ofen stand ich ein wenig auf Kriegsfuß und wirklich warm wurde es nicht im Haus. Ich musste deshalb parallel die Elektroheizung nutzen, was ziemlich teuer ist. Auch fand ich die Matratze sehr unbequem, ich bin solch weiche Matratzen nicht gewohnt. Alles in allem ist das Haus aber wunderschön, sehr sauber, mit allem Notwendigen ausgestattet und mit sehr schönen Möbeln. Ich fand die Dusche klasse! Der überdachte Freisitz hinter dem Haus ist windgeschützt und mit der richtigen Kleidung oder einer Decke konnte ich auch abends wunderbar draußen sitzen. Und natürlich darf man Erna und Jacco, die Vermieter, nicht vergessen. Sie sind so erfrischend freundlich und hilfsbereit, ich habe sie sofort in mein Herz geschlossen. Auch wenn die Sprachbarriere hinderlich war, da ich kaum französisch und kein niederländisch spreche, haben sich beide große Mühe gegeben und Gott sei Dank spricht Jacco ganz gut Deutsch.

It was wonderful! The area was very quiet, even though you live right next to a road. There is hardly any traffic, maybe the occasional car or tractor. You walk out of the front door and can start walking straight away, or alternatively cycling. A great circular hiking trail leads directly from the house along the Canal du Nivernais, past fields. Early in the morning you can admire deer, hares and herons. I can't say anything about restaurants or the like as I didn't visit them. There are several shops in the area. L.Eclerce, b1 etc. can all be reached within a few minutes to a maximum of half an hour. I hope that I will be able to stay at Gite La Chouette again one day, but then in the warmer season :-)

Es war wunderbar! Die Gegend war sehr ruhig, obwohl man direkt an einer Straße wohnt. Es gibt kaum Verkehr, vielleicht mal ein Auto oder ein Traktor. Man geht aus der Haustür und kann direkt loswandern, alternativ auch Rad fahren. Ein toller Rundwanderweg führt direkt vom Haus am Canal du Nivernais entlang, an Feldern vorbei. Früh morgens kann man Rehe, Hasen und Reiher bewundern. Zu Restaurants oder ähnliches kann ich nichts sagen, da ich diese nicht besucht habe. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es in der Umgebung mehrere. L.Eclerce, b1 usw. sind alle innerhalb weniger Minuten bis max. 1 halben Stunde zu erreichen. Ich hoffe, dass ich das Gite La Chouette eines Tages wieder bewohnen darf, dann allerdings in der wärmeren Jahreszeit :-)
