Located in the middle of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Nockberge, our cozy cabin is equipped with modern facilities and yet charming with traditional elements, so you experience the best of both worlds. Picture this: 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living room with an authentic tile stove that is actually a winter hugger. And you know what? There's a sauna, too!
Nature and surroundings
Our hut is located at 1,500 meters in the Kärntner Nockberge, on the border with Salzburgerland, a unique area in Austria with rolling forested mountains. Since July 2012, this area has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List and is a biosphere reserve. You will find coniferous and deciduous forests, and higher up, larch and pine. There is a lot of biodiversity, with bears, woodpeckers, eagle owls, lynxes and badgers. Just a few hundred meters away is the famous Nockalmstraße, a great alpine road in Carinthia. With 35 kilometers of winding roads, breathtaking views and several playgrounds for children. In addition, there are 14 traditional eateries (jausenstations) with various local specialties. Our place is also an ideal base for ski lovers. We are talking about Katschberg (20 minutes drive), with 70 km of slopes, and ten minutes away from Katschberg is Grosseck Speiereck with 50 km of slopes.

Jeroen May 4, 2024 General rating:The kitchen and living room are not super large, but the bedrooms are spacious (especially the two upstairs). The cozy fireplace in the living room and the sauna give a wonderful 'Austria' relaxing feeling. The cottage is really recommended for people who like hiking (skiing I guess too, but that doesn't work in May...) in the beautiful nature of Austria. By the way, the Nockalmstrasse is a real must see (900 meters away from the cottage)!
De keuken en de woonkamer zijn niet super groot, maar de slaapkamers zijn ruim (zeker de twee boven). De gezellige openhaard in de woonkamer en de sauna geven een heerlijk 'Oostenrijk' relax gevoel. Het huisje is echt een aanrader voor mensen die graag wandelen (skiën gok ik ook, maar dat lukt in mei niet...) in de prachtige natuur van Oostenrijk. De Nockalmstrasse is overigens een echte must see (900 meter van het huisje vandaan)!

In short, a place to feel good and relax. In the garden there is a small play tower with slide and sandpit, which our daughter (2 years) really liked! The garden is completely fenced in, so you can leave the children to play on their own. If you still want to have a view, this is easily possible from the living room. Ein äußerst gemütliches Haus, das zu geselligen Runden vor dem Kachelofen auf einer Eckbank mit einem sehr großen Tisch einlädt!
Die Küche ist klein, bietet aber einen Backofen, einen E-Herd, eine Mikrowelle, einen Geschirrspüler, einen Kühlschrank und einen Getränkekühlschrank in der Garage. Holz für den Kachelofen ist ebenfalls vorhanden.
Die Sauna ist klasse und bietet viel Platz. Der mit Bachwasser versorgte Holztrog lädt förmlich nach der vom Garten zugänglichen Sauna zum Abkühlen ein!!! Mega!!!
Kurz gesagt ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen und Entspannen.
Im Garten ist ein kleiner Spielturm mit Rutsche und Sandkasten, was unserer Tocher (2 Jahre) sehr gefallen hat! Der Garten ist komplett eingezäunt, sodass man hier Kinder auch mal alleine spielen lassen kann. Sollte man dennoch einen Kontrollblick wünschen, so ist dies vom Wohnraum aus problemlos möglich.
