Our nature house is located in a beautiful forest on a hill with stunning views. Ideal for resting, relaxing and enjoying nature, as well as hiking or mountain biking in the immediate vicinity. For the children there is a trampoline, a cable car and a garage with a table tennis table and tag soccer; also an e-bike, 1 MTB and 2 children's MTBs. The kitchen is new and connected to a nice terrace: with a wood-fired hot tub (max 4), BBQ, 2 hammocks and a fire basket. There is a cozy wood stove in the living room for the evening or in winter. The cottage has a lovely kitchen, 1 bathroom and 3 bedrooms with single or double beds. A sauna in the basement. There is also a room with a desk to sit quietly for a day of home office. Note: we don't have internet (yet); but good 5G coverage for calling or hotspot. We often use the house ourselves but also rent it to guests. You may then also use e.g. books, games, etc.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is within walking distance of the village of Sommerau (70 inhabitants). From the house itself are wonderful (marked) hiking and mountain biking routes (long or shorter routes, look for example on the komoot app).From the house it is approx 10 minutes drive to Trier, the oldest city in Germany in the middle of the famous wine region around the Moselle. Luxembourg and Echternach can be reached in about 40 minutes - for a day trip to the city or for beautiful walks through the rock formations. In the village of Sommerau (5 mins walk) there is an excellent Italian restaurant with a lovely terrace in good weather. A former train track runs as a bike path/hiking trail directly to Trier (15km), or to Hermeskeil (54km, at 500m altitude). Within 3.5km you can go shopping by bike or to the bakery in Waldrach. There is an outdoor pool 5km away in Mertesdorf, and e.g. the Holzerather See for swimming. 2 supermarkets can be reached by car within 10 minutes.
