A Kota is a wooden cabin (originally a barbecue hut) where you can truly unwind. Our Finnish Kota is situated in a beautiful clearing in the woods, with its own terrace. Inside the cozy Kota, you’ll find a narrow double bed (120x200), a dining table with two stools, a bench, and a kitchenette with a two-burner stove. The Kota does not have its own bathroom facilities, but about 60 meters away there is a nice hot shower and two restrooms that are part of our small campground.
Nature and surroundings
Guests staying here may feel as if they’re at the end of the world, but nothing could be further from the truth. The villages of Saint Ciers-sur-Gironde and Mirambeau, located 5 and 8 km from the nature house, respectively, offer large supermarkets, shops, and even outdoor cafes, as well as artisanal butchers and bakeries. If you’re looking for more, you can head to Blaye or Jonzac, both about a half-hour drive away. In addition to shops, cafés, and supermarkets, these historic towns also offer attractions. They host large markets where you can find everything a person could possibly need, from clothing and bedding to homemade jams and oysters of all shapes and sizes. About 70 km away, the beautifully restored city center of Bordeaux, Cognac with its renowned cognac distilleries, and the historic center of Saintes are definitely worth a visit. An easy-to-use website with some great finds!

Hilde, the owner, is very welcoming and warm. I had a wonderful week in this little Hobbit-style cabin, far from everything and in the middle of the forest. My only immediate neighbors were a squirrel and a woodpecker. The place is very clean, as are the common areas. I highly recommend this spot for anyone who loves green spaces and wants to get away from the exhausting crowds.
