Nature house in Schortens

The hut is very easy to reach. It's only a few minutes by bike from the train station. There are a few shops in the area and a café right next door with delicious cakes, an excellent vegan currywurst and an attached organic/unpackaged store. In half an hour by bike you can be in Wilhelmshaven, where there is also something going on in the evening (cinema, concert, etc.) The hut is very cozy and is well suited for a reading vacation (we had a slightly larger selection of books with us). Another review said that the kitchen was too low. We see it differently. The sink is a bit deep, but if you only have to wash up for two people, that's fine. Overall, the hut is not necessarily for very tall people. There were several infrared heaters and a fire bowl outside so you don't freeze (but you have to organize your own firewood--> a DIY store is nearby!). We felt very comfortable.

Die Hütte ist sehr gut erreichbar. Vom Bahnhof sind es nur ein paar Minuten mit dem Fahrrad. In der Umgebung gibt es einige Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und direkt nebenan das Café mit leckerem Kuchen, einer hervorragenden veganen Currywurst und einem angeschlossenen Bio-/Unverpacktladen. In einer halben Stunde ist man mit dem Fahrrad in Wilhelmshaven, wo auch abends noch was los ist (Kino, Konzert, etc.).
Die Hütte ist sehr gemütlich und eignet sich gut für einen Leseurlaub (wir hatten eine etwas größere Auswahl an Büchern mit). In einer anderen Bewertung stand, die Küche sei zu niedrig. Sehen wir anders. Das Spülbecken ist etwas tief, aber wenn man nur für zwei Leute abwaschen muss, geht das schon klar. Insgesamt ist die Hütte aber nicht unbedingt was für sehr große Leute.
Damit man nicht friert gab es mehrere Infrarotheizungen und draußen eine Feuerschale (Brennholz muss man sich aber selbst organisieren-->Baumarkt ist in der Nähe!).
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

As already mentioned in other reviews, there is a busy road right next to the cottage. You actually have to deduct half the points for this. Just when you hear a bird chirping, a car is guaranteed to come roaring past and you can't hear a thing. At least if you're sitting outside. On the other hand, there are also a few extra points. The wild garden is populated by various birds and even a few squirrels. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you can go into the forest right next door (approx. 90 seconds on foot). The nature experience there is outstanding. It is nice and quiet in the hut itself. You can hardly hear the road, but you can hear the occasional animal scurrying across the roof.

Wie schon in anderen Bewertungen erwähnt gibt es direkt neben dem Häuschen eine viel befahrene Straße. Für die muss man eigentlich die Hälfte der Punkte abziehen. Wenn man grade einen Vogel zwitschern hört, kommt garantiert ein Auto vorbeigebrettert und man hört gar nix mehr. Zumindest, wenn man draußen sitzt. Andererseits gibt es aber auch ein paar Extrapunkte. Der wilde Garten ist von verschiedenen Vögeln und auch ein paar Eichhörnchen bevölkert. Wer Ruhe sucht kann in den Wald direkt nebenan gehen (zu Fuß ca. 90 Sekunden). Dort ist das Naturerlebnis hervorragend.
In der Hütte selbst ist es schön ruhig. Die Straße hört man kaum, dafür schon mal ein Tier übers Dach huschen.

The frame of the bed is a frame cobbled together with wooden beams that stands crosswise in the room. The one lying against the wall has to climb over the other. The slatted base fell loose in the middle and the mattress bowed out. The bathroom has a wooden floor but no ventilation. A moisture trap should solve this, but did not help. The furniture is old, the cutlery and pans were not clean. We bought a set of pans and plates/glasses ourselves. The electrical system in the cottage is not safely installed. There are extension cords in the bathroom and right above the toilet the water heater hangs making loud squeaking noises. We left after a week because we found mouse droppings everywhere in the kitchen cabinets.
We reported this to the manager, but he did not want to do anything about it.

Response landlord: The furnishing of the house is minimal. That's right: that's what the ad says. That is exactly what guests are looking for in the cabin. If you want to cook/wash dishes in the kitchen, you have to get on your knees or grab a chair. Why? The worktop has the normal height of 80 cm. The frame of the bed is a cobbled together frame of wooden beams that stands across the room. The person lying against the wall has to climb over the other person. That's right: the 140-cm wide bed fits perfectly into the tiny room with a wooden frame. It is a tinyhouse/hut with 30 square meters of living space. The slatted base came loose in the middle and the mattress sagged. The bed is not a trampoline. The bathroom has a wooden floor but no ventilation. The bathroom has an opening window and is separated by sliding doors with louvers for optimal air circulation. A dehumidifier should help but did not. The dehumidifier works perfectly. The furniture is old (yes, the oak table is 300 years old, the chairs are also antique and valuable), the cutlery and pans were not clean (no comment). We bought a set of pans and plates/glasses ourselves. The electrical system in the cottage was not installed safely. The electrical system is new and professionally renewed by a specialized company with a prescribed ground fault circuit breaker There are extension cords in the bathroom (there are no extension cords in the bathroom) and the water heater hangs directly over the toilet, which makes loud squeaking noises. Yes, the new water heater makes noises when water is tapped. We left after a week because we found mouse droppings everywhere in the kitchen cabinets. If the dog can run in and out of the cottage, all the animals in the woods can also run in and out, including mice. We reported this to the manager, but he wouldn't do anything about it. Nothing at all was reported to me as "manager", the reason for the early departure was that the guests had left because of psychological problems with their daughters who had stayed at home. Never again here. We are not waiting for such dishonest / lying guests.

De inrichting van het huisje is minimaal. Wie in de keuken wil koken/afwassen moet op zijn knieën of een stoel erbij pakken.

Het frame van het bed is een met houten balken in elkaar geknutseld frame wat dwars in de kamer staat. Degene die tegen de wand ligt moet over de ander klimmen. De lattenbodem viel in het midden los en het matras boog door.

De badkamer heeft een houten vloer maar geen ventilatie. Een vochtvanger zou hiervoor de oplossing moeten bieden, maar hielp niet. Het meubilair is oud, het bestek en pannen waren niet schoon. We hebben zelf een set pannen en borden/glazen gekocht.

De elektrische installatie in het huisje is niet veilig aangelegd. In de badkamer liggen verlengkabels en vlak boven het toilet hangt de boiler die luid piepende geluiden maakt.

Wij zijn na een week vertrokken omdat wij in de keukenkastjes overal uitwerpselen van muizen tegenkwamen.
We hebben dit aangegeven bij de beheerder, maar die wilde hier niets tegen ondernemen.

Nooit weer hierheen.

De inrichting van het huisje is minimaal. Dat klopt: dat staat in de advertentie. Dat is precies wat gasten zoeken in de hut. Als je wilt koken/afwassen in de keuken, moet je op je knieën of een stoel pakken. Waarom? Het werkblad heeft de normale hoogte van 80 cm. Het frame van het bed is een in elkaar geflanst frame van houten balken dat dwars door de kamer staat. De persoon die tegen de muur ligt, moet over de andere persoon heen klimmen. Dat klopt: het 140 cm brede bed past perfect in de kleine kamer met een houten frame. Het is een tinyhouse/hut met 30 vierkante meter leefruimte. De lattenbodem kwam in het midden los en de matras zakte door. Het bed is geen trampoline. De badkamer heeft een houten vloer maar geen ventilatie. De badkamer heeft een openslaand raam en wordt gescheiden door schuifdeuren met louvres voor een optimale luchtcirculatie. Een vochtafscheider zou moeten helpen, maar deed dat niet. De ontvochtiger werkt perfect. Het meubilair is oud (ja, de eiken tafel is 300 jaar oud, de stoelen zijn ook antiek en waardevol), het bestek en de pannen waren niet schoon (geen commentaar). We hebben zelf een set pannen en borden/glazen gekocht. De elektrische installatie in het vakantiehuis is niet veilig geïnstalleerd. De elektrische installatie is nieuw en professioneel vernieuwd door een gespecialiseerd bedrijf met een voorgeschreven aardlekschakelaar Er zijn verlengkabels in de badkamer (er zijn geen verlengkabels in de badkamer) en de boiler hangt direct boven het toilet, wat luide piepende geluiden maakt. Ja, de nieuwe boiler maakt geluiden als er water wordt getapt. We zijn na een week vertrokken omdat we overal muizenkeutels in de keukenkastjes vonden. Als de hond het huisje in en uit kan rennen, kunnen alle dieren in het bos ook in en uit rennen, inclusief muizen. We hebben dit gemeld bij de beheerder, maar die wilde er niets aan doen. Er werd mij als "manager" helemaal niets gemeld, de reden van het vroege vertrek was dat de gasten waren vertrokken vanwege psychische problemen met hun dochters die thuis waren gebleven. Nooit meer hier. Op zulke oneerlijke/leugenachtige gasten zitten we niet te wachten.

Right next to the cottage is a through road that is not too disruptive. The enclosed garden was very nice for our dog. He could walk in and out of the cottage whenever he wanted. The garden was a real nature garden full of weeds. Because of the bed and the total decoration we did not really get our rest. We had to catch up on that at home.

Vlak naast het huisje ligt een doorgaande weg die niet al te verstorend werkt. De afgesloten tuin was heel fijn voor onze hond. Hij kon in en uit het huisje lopen wanneer hij wilde. De tuin was een echte natuurtuin vol met onkruid.
Door het bed en de totale inrichting zijn wij niet echt aan onze rust gekomen. Die hebben wij thuis moeten inhalen.

Unglaublich erholsam und gemütlich.

Wald und Seen ringsumher, es war sehr entspannend.
