FALL! Are you looking for a place where you can go on plenty of walks and enjoy the seasons? Then our small and cozy chalet is perfect for a stay with 2 adults and up to 2 children! You’ll wake up surrounded by trees and step right into the woods! After a day in nature, you can completely unwind in our cozy cottage. When the weather is nice, you can barbecue outside and eat at the picnic table. On chilly evenings, light a fire in the wood stove. (Firewood and charcoal provided) There’s a sitting area with a TV, DVD player, and CD player. A dining area for 4 people, a kitchenette with an electric stove, and a small microwave. You can make coffee with a Nespresso machine or a French press. The bathroom has a tub/shower, toilet, sink, and hair dryer. There is 1 bedroom with a double bed + double comforter + 2 pillows, and 1 bedroom with a bunk bed + 2 comforters + 2 pillows. Please bring your own bed, bath, and kitchen linens!! Hiking maps and an information folder are waiting for you!
Nature and surroundings
Our chalet is located in a small, wooded vacation park, with a few playground structures, and also a donkey, a pony, and a goat. You can play table tennis and petanque. (The equipment for these activities is available in the chalet.) It’s a 15-minute walk to the village of Oignies, where you’ll find a butcher, a small grocery store that sells bread, and places to eat. Several marked hiking trails start from the park. Oignies-en-Thiérache is part of the municipality of Viroinval, which encompasses eight picturesque villages. It is part of the Viroin-Hermeton Nature Park, known for its many gorges, limestone hills, and endless forests. In every village, you’ll find a map with marked hiking trails! The French border is nearby. You can go cycling along the Meuse River or visit one of the many towns. (Fumay, Givet, Hastière, Dinant) Fondry des Chiens, the Caves of Neptune, the steam train in Mariembourg, or donkey treks in Treignes… are all well worth a visit! Your stay won’t be long enough to explore everything!
