Our white peat cutters cottage is completely private in our yard in Spanga with its own entrance and terrace.It stands on a quiet road with scattered houses in nature reserve the Rottige Meente, around the corner from the Weerribben.The area of the nature house is about 45 m2 and is open, so no separate bedroom, there is a hallway behind the front door and a bathroom.Inside it is cozy with loam and wooden walls. There is underfloor heating, but also a wood stove that can be stoked open and closed. A basket of wood is waiting for you. The kitchen is simple but complete, with an induction stove and a dishwasher. If you want to Netflix bring your own screen, there is no TV but there is WiFi and a bluetooth speaker so you can stream your own music. Outside you can take a small walk on our own property (approx 2 ha) where you may come face to face with a deer. If you want, you can swim in open water. In the yard also runs the occasional nice dog Pete.
Nature and surroundings
There are many animals living in and around our yard, deer, hares, garden birds, the hawk and the hen harrier, kingfisher and others. In the course of February the storks return, they made 3 nests with us last year. You can make beautiful walks in the neighborhood, cycling and canoeing. In Ossenzijl 5 minutes away you can rent a whisper boat to go into the Weerribben. You are near the small rivers the Scheene, the Linde and the Tjonger and the beautiful area Brandemeer and 10 minutes from the Tjeukemeer. Nearby you can rent canoes to explore the area from the water. If you want to come from mid-May to mid-June, know that there are midges. These are annoying little mosquitoes, you will be bothered by them when the weather is cloudy and quiet and outside at night.
