Nature house in Spangenberg-Elbersdorf

The landlord is friendly and very helpful; he brings plenty of fresh water every day and offers lots of useful tips about the area. There are many old half-timbered houses and castles in this region (northern Hesse), as well as plenty of forests. There’s an Edeka supermarket (and a Lidl) in the village, as well as a few restaurants (Junkerhaus serves delicious Arabic dishes!), but no nightlife.

Vriendelijke en zeer behulpzame verhuurder, brengt elke dag ruim voldoende vers water en geeft veel nuttige tips over de omgeving. Heel veel oude vakwerkhuizen en kastelen in dit gebied (noord Hessen), veel bos. Edeka supermarkt (en Lidl) in dorp, wel enkele restaurants (Junkerhaus biedt heerlijke arabische gerechten!) maar geen uitgaansgelegenheden.

Peace and space. Off-grid. Cozy. Cooking over a wood fire (or your own Campingaz stove), lit by candlelight. Beautifully situated on a dead-end but steep road, with a lovely, sweeping view. Right on a hiking trail. Fully furnished. Don’t expect luxury or a sleek, spotless interior here, though. But that’s exactly what gives it its charm—a bit like the old days. There are quite a few (old) cobwebs. The house stays at a comfortable temperature. Sleeping in the attic requires climbing a steep staircase. Not suitable for people with mobility issues. Highly recommended for those seeking peace and quiet, hikers, and lovers of modern art (ars natura). So, with the right expectations going in, this stay is fantastic!

Rust en ruimte. Off grid. Knus. Koken op hout (of je eigen campingaz), licht van kaarsen. Prachtig gelegen aan een doodlopende maar steile weg, mooi wijds uitzicht. Direct aan wandelroute. Compleet ingericht. Verwacht hier echter geen luxe of strak en heel schoon interieur. Maar dat bepaalt juist de sfeer. Beetje zoals het vroeger was. Wel veel (oud) spinrag. Huis blijft goed op temperatuur. Slapen op zolder via steile trap. Niet voor mensen slecht ter been. Aanrader voor rustzoekers, wandelaars en moderne kunst liefhebbers (ars natura). Dus met de juiste verwachtingen vooraf is dit verblijf fantastisch!

Beautiful little cottage! It had everything we needed. Of course, you do have to be okay with dealing with water from jerry cans; if you want hot water, you can fire up the wood stove, and if you want electricity, it’s handy to bring a small solar panel. The cottage might be a bit cluttered with mismatched tableware, candle holders, and the like, but that’s part of its charm.
It’s not a dust-free, spotless cottage, but there was more than enough clean linens, and we gave it a quick sweep ourselves.
It’s great that the garden is well-fenced; the dogs could just run around freely. There are also cherry, apple, and plum trees in the garden.

The location is perfect—lovely and peaceful on the edge of the forest and within walking distance of the village.
Great hiking area right from the cottage. Some steeper and some flatter trails, all peaceful.

Prachtig huisje! Het had alles wat we nodig hadden. Je moet natuurlijk dan wel er tegen kunnen dat je moet rommelen met water uit jerrycans, als je warm water wil dan kan je het houtfornuis opstoken en als je stroom wil is een zonnepaneeltje handig om mee te nemen. Het huisje staat misschien een beetje vol halve serviezen en kaarsenstandaards etc, maar dat is ook wel charmant.
Het is geen huisje dat stofvrij en superschoon is, maar er was meer dan genoeg schoon linnengoed en we hebben er zelf even een bezem door gehaald.
Superideaal dat de tuin goed omheind is, de honden konden gewoon los. In de tuin staan bovendien kersen- appel- en pruimenbomen.

De ligging is perfect, heerlijk rustig aan de bosrand en op loopafstand van het dorp.
Prima wandelgebied direct vanaf het huisje. Wat steilere en wat vlakkere paden, overal rustig.

Wundervolles Grundstück, komplett eingezäunt, ein Traum für die Hunde, wir kommen sehr sehr gerne wieder! Auch Sandrino ist ein sehr netter Gastgeber.

Wir fanden es wirklich schön, natürlich wartet dort kein Luxus, aber genau das ist ja auch das schöne. Im Haus gibt es soweit alles was man braucht, man kann Kochen, mit dem Kamin heizen, es gibt auch einen Grill und eine Feuertonne. Der Garten ist wundervoll und eingezäunt. Genau der richtige Ort zum abschalten.
