Originally, this was a barn that we converted into a "gîte" on the first floor. Views of the front garden and the woods and meadows in the back. There is a separate entrance for guests. The garden is divided. A hot tub is available and operates from May through the end of October. The price is per person per use for a maximum of 1 hour per session. (Optional) A 12-kilometer hiking trail runs alongside the property, perfect for people who enjoy hiking. There is plenty to see in the area related to World War I. The nearest village is 8 km away (Vic-sur-Aisne & Blérancourt), where you’ll find a supermarket, bakery, bar, entertainment, and restaurants. Larger cities (Soissons, Noyon, Compiègne, and Chauny) are located 16, 30, and 35 km away, respectively. Not far away and newly opened is the “C.I.L.F.” (Cité International de la Langue Française), well worth a visit in Villers-Cotterêts (35 minutes) Paris is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away, or less than an hour by train from Soissons. Reims and the Champagne region are between 50 and 70 km away

Nature and surroundings

The countryside around Vic-sur-Aisne, where there’s plenty of wildlife, lush greenery, and very little noise (except for the occasional car passing by on the street—it’s a dead-end street). There are several hiking trails, the longest of which is 12 km. Ideal terrain for mountain biking, with a lovely hilly landscape featuring some nice slopes that can get quite steep at times :-) The gîte is located on the bike route from Maastricht to Paris, near Coucy-Le-Château (See Paul Benjaminse’s guide) Perfect for people who want to temporarily escape the noise and hustle and bustle.

What does “Fireworks-free” mean?
The host indicates that the area is firework-free. Firework-free means that no firework bangs can be heard in and around the accommodation. You might occasionally hear some noise or see some light from fireworks set off outside the immediate area. It is important that you agree with the landlord on what you can expect.
