Casa Oriole is an off-grid casita, situated on the rural slopes in the south of Catalunya, Spain. It lies in close proximity to the historic city of Tortosa (15km) and the coastal town of L'Ampolla (18km), with its many restaurants & beaches. The casita has run successfully for many years as a rental unit and is now under new ownership. This self-sufficient, environmentally friendly and self contained bungalow is typical of this part of the countryside. The interior, open-plan apartment space, consists of living area, double bed, fully equipped kitchen and separate shower room and includes wifi, TV, wood burning stove, tea, coffee, bed & bath linen. Casa Oriole is fully off-grid, using rain storage for water supply and a photovoltaic system for electricity. Therefore, we ask guests to be mindful of water consumption and power usage and to give any high powered appliances, such as irons and hair dryers (we supply a low consumption one) a vacation too!
Nature and surroundings
Casa Oriole is surrounded by olive trees & features a large carob tree right outside the front door. As well as the plentiful olives & carobs, there are some almond & fig trees belonging to the finca. The private garden space includes a table & chairs for al fresco dining, as well as a bench overlooking views of the finca. There is parking space next to the property. There are many interesting walks through the nearby ravines & the property lies halfway between the beaches of the Ebro Delta (known for its unique flora & fauna) & the Boix-Cardó & Els Ports mountain ranges. Numerous activities can be found in the region, including cycling through the Delta, with its rice fields & lagoons, & connecting to the Greenway through Tortosa & reaching Alcañiz. The Delta also enjoys one of the largest natural reserves of birds in the Mediterranean including its famous flamingoes. Kayak & canoe hire is available to explore the mouth of the Ebro or how about snorkelling in the Med?
