Welcome to the smallest village in Auvergne, with the most charm for hikers and cyclists. The village is home to friendly French residents who have lived there for years or have owned second homes there for generations. We bought our semi-detached farmhouse in 2017 and renovated it with a lot of love and joy. The larger house is a family home that we rent out upon request, but we’re happy to rent the smaller gîte to anyone. The mountain cabin is the farmer’s former barn, which we’ve converted into a comfortable place to stay. From the cabin, you have a beautiful view of the valley and can see the peaks of the Puy de Sancy in the distance. The cottage is fully equipped with a dining area, a comfortable sofa, a kitchenette (stove and refrigerator), and a shower and toilet on the ground floor. A sturdy wooden staircase leads up to the sleeping loft. Since winters can be very cold, in addition to the wood stove, there is underfloor heating and a quick-heating wall-mounted radiator for wet coats.
Nature and surroundings
We hope that many people will be able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the Sagnes Nature Reserve, the mountains, and the forests. The GR 30 trail runs through La Godivelle and attracts many hikers. You can go on hikes, visit charming towns, enjoy good food, or head to Superbesse to ski, mountain bike, row, swim, or whiz down the mountain on the cable car. Tired hikers can relax in a comfortable chair or at the picnic table around the mountain hut to enjoy the views. About a half-hour drive away, you’ll find: Besse: a medieval town with charming shops, restaurants, and cafés. The weekly markets are highly recommended. Along the way, you’ll pass the Vaucoux waterfall. Superbesse: a resort town for sports such as skiing, cross-country skiing, canoeing, and swimming. Issoire: the drive there is breathtakingly beautiful. This small town with a historic center features the stunning Saint-Sainte Austremoine Church, lovely restaurants, and modern shops and amenities.

The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen and stairs that you can push forward if you need more space at the dining table. It is sheltered under the ash trees and you can ventilate it well. The only downside for us was the limited space for the toilet.

Das Häuschen war kleiner als auf den Fotos zu erkennen und war für 2 Personen + Baby für 10 Tage etwas zu klein. Elma und Jaap waren aber unglaublich zuvorkommend, sodass wir im nebenstehendem großen Haus übernachten konnten. Das kleine Haus ist sehr gemütlich und super für zwei Personen, die einen Wanderurlaub, Skiurlaub etc. planen.
Das große Haus nebenan wurde mit Liebe renoviert und bietet genug Platz für einen ausgedehnten Familienurlaub.
Die Umgebung ist wunderschön im kleinen Dörfchen La Godivelle, welches tief in der Auvergne liegt. Zu empfehlen ist die sehr charaktervolle, kleine Stadt Besse (30min mit dem Auto). Wandern kann man von La Godivelle aus oder man kann ca. 30 min in die Vulkanregion der Auvergne fahren und sehr schöne Natur erleben.
