Welcome to the smallest village in Auvergne, with the greatest allure for hikers and cyclists. The village is inhabited by friendly French people who have lived there for years or have had their second home for generations. We bought our semi-detached farmhouse in 2017 and refurbished it with much love and pleasure. The big house is a family home that we rent out by request, but the smaller Gite we are happy to rent out to anyone. The mountain lodge is the former farmer's barn, which we have converted into a comfortable residence. From the mountain cottage you have a beautiful view over the valley and in the distance you can see the peaks of the Puy de Sancy. The cottage is fully equipped with a dining area, comfortable sofa, kitchenette (stove and refrigerator), shower and toilet on the ground floor. With a sturdy wooden staircase you climb to the sleeping loft. Because the winters can be very cold, there is underfloor heating in addition to the wood stove and a quick-heating wall radiator for wet coats.
Nature and surroundings
We hope many people can enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the natural park, the mountains and forests. The GR runs through La Godivelle and attracts many hikers. You can go on treks, visit pretty towns, enjoy good food, or go skiing, mountain biking, rowing, swimming, or whizzing down the cable car in Superbesse. Tired hikers can enjoy the views around the mountain hut in a comfortable chair or at the picnic table. About half an hour away by car you will find: Besse: a medieval town with cozy stores, restaurants and cafes. The weekly markets are a must. On the way you pass the waterfall de Vaucoux. The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen and stairs that you can push forward if you need more space at the dining table. It is sheltered under the ash trees and you can ventilate it well. The only downside for us was the limited space for the toilet.

Das Häuschen war kleiner als auf den Fotos zu erkennen und war für 2 Personen + Baby für 10 Tage etwas zu klein. Elma und Jaap waren aber unglaublich zuvorkommend, sodass wir im nebenstehendem großen Haus übernachten konnten. Das kleine Haus ist sehr gemütlich und super für zwei Personen, die einen Wanderurlaub, Skiurlaub etc. planen.
Das große Haus nebenan wurde mit Liebe renoviert und bietet genug Platz für einen ausgedehnten Familienurlaub.
Die Umgebung ist wunderschön im kleinen Dörfchen La Godivelle, welches tief in der Auvergne liegt. Zu empfehlen ist die sehr charaktervolle, kleine Stadt Besse (30min mit dem Auto). Wandern kann man von La Godivelle aus oder man kann ca. 30 min in die Vulkanregion der Auvergne fahren und sehr schöne Natur erleben.
