Deep in the Perigord Vert, hidden in a small valley just outside the village of Busserolles is the estate of Chez Bigot, a small Chateau built in the 1600’s for the Napoleonic wars, set in 20 acres of woodland and bordered on three sides by the river Trieux. Walk the river path through the dappled wood, look for crayfish and mussels in the shallows and splash about in the deeper pools. Rarely does the river exceed waist deep and the abundance of birds and fish provide hours of distraction. The shepherd’s is set on the riverbank in the woods and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. It has a double bed, its own outdoor kitchen, compost toilet and gas shower. It is positioned under the trees on the riverbank. Enjoy the sounds of nature sitting by the river, relaxing in the hammock or tending the firepit in the evening. There are lights, usb sockets and a log burner to quickly heat the whole hut.
Nature and surroundings
Set in the Périgord Vert national park there is lots of wildlife to view. Picnic benches are dotted about, so take your pick. Help feed the pigs, lambs, ducks and chickens. Let us help you to relax and enjoy all the area has to offer! Two villages Busserolles & BussierBadil are within walking distance, each with a local restaurant and bakery. There are markets (Piegut, Nontron & Brantome) and each has a distinctive feel and flavour. Nearby, Le Grand Etang de St Estephe and St Mathieu offers visitors a beach and safe bathing area, bar and restaurant. The lakes and surrounding woodland are attractive to Anglers and Walkers with several keep fit stations dotted about the trails. The cities of Angouleme, Limoges and Perigueux are all an easy drive away if you feel the need to have some city culture and life.

Peter July 30, 2023 General rating:Wil je echt één zijn met de natuur, dan is dit de plek. Je leeft buiten, slaapt naast een klaterend riviertje en als je niet wil hoef je geen mens te ontmoeten. In de omgeving kan je prachtige wandelingen maken en het dorpje kan je te voet bereiken.
