A self-contained cottage (gite) with an open double bedroom on the 1st floor. The cottage is in our enclosed courtyard across from our house. Downstairs, there is an open-plan lounge/kitchen & dining space plus shower room. The cottage has been lovingly restored from an old stable & finished in solid timbers; it is compact but equipped with everything you will need for your getaway. Babies & young children are welcome but please note we don't provide any bedding or equipment for children. Free parking is provided onsite. There is a table & chairs outside. Optionally, you can order a home-cooked meal, using garden fresh and/or local produce where possible. (Vegetarian, Vegan or Fish). 3 courses 25€ p/person. Drinks can be ordered separately. We have cats, dogs & chickens; your pet is welcome as long as he/she is happy to share the space with our animals. You must bring a bed or rug for them, they are not allowed on beds/sofa. They must not be left in the room without you.
Nature and surroundings
We live in a small rural village (300 inhabitants) about 5kms from the nearest town. We are 30kms from the Opale coast and its magnificent beaches. There is no public transport but we live in an excellent area for cycling & we can offer you a safe place to store bicycles. Bikes can be rented from our local Tourist Office. The village is quiet in a 'rural way' so there is sometimes the noise of cockerals or farm vehicles. There is a good sized garden behind your holiday cottage with trees, flowers and our vegetable garden. There are a number of quiet places to sit and/or dine. We don't use sprays and our garden is bee friendly. When we have excess, we sell our spray-free, home-grown vegetables and fruits to our guests. Your cottage faces onto our enclosed (recycled) brick courtyard. We live in the house opposite your cottage and there is 1 B&B room next door - so there will be a maximum of 4 other residents sharing the space.
