First impression: simple but adequate. Upon entering, we immediately noticed a damp, stuffy air, which we thought we could remedy by ventilating. There were obvious moisture spots in the bedrooms on the ground floor. Later that evening, the dust problem became more noticeable: dust was on the bedding, irritating our breathing and mucous membranes. Especially visible were dust and cobwebs on the lamps in the living room. The photos on this profile do not match reality; the cottage has seen better days. That same evening we heard rustling in walls and roof - later we actually saw mice running through the house. Combined with the musty smell, moisture and dust, the stay was downright unhealthy. We decided to leave after one night. Our experience was exceptionally disappointing. If you are looking for a hygienic and pleasant nature house: be warned. Landlord's Response: The bedding had been taken off the clothesline in the morning after being washed the night before. So then it would have collected a layer of dust in half a day and that while the house is virtually dust free after the renovation of 2 years ago. Moisture is not there either, only in the river 7 meters below. You have not seen mice but a Loire. They live here in the forest and sometimes come into the house. They are cute almost hand tame critters with beautiful fluffy tails that don't spread diseases or do other nasty things. As a nature lover, I love watching them. But I also understand that some people who come from the city are afraid of all the animals they don't know. Perhaps because of that, the fresh forest air is also confused with stuffiness?

Eerste indruk: eenvoudig maar voldoende. Bij binnenkomst merkten we direct een vochtige, bedompte lucht, die we meenden te kunnen verhelpen door ventileren. Er waren duidelijke vochtplekken in de slaapkamers op de begane grond. Later die avond werd het stofprobleem pas echt voelbaar: stof lag op het beddengoed, zorgde voor irritatie van onze ademhaling en slijmvliezen. Vooral zichtbaar waren stof en spinrag op de lampen in de woonkamer. De foto’s op dit profiel komen niet overeen met de werkelijkheid; het huisje heeft betere tijden gekend. Nog diezelfde avond hoorden we geritsel in muren en dak — later zagen we ook daadwerkelijk muizen door het huis lopen. In combinatie met de muffe geur, vocht en stof was het verblijf ronduit ongezond. We besloten na één nacht te vertrekken. Onze ervaring was uitzonderlijk teleurstellend. Als je op zoek bent naar een hygiënisch en prettig natuurhuisje: wees gewaarschuwd.

Reactie van de verhuurder:

Het beddengoed was ‘s ochtends van de waslijn gehaald nadat het de avond ervoor gewassen was. Dus dan zou het in een halve dag een stoflaag verzamelt hebben en dat terwijl het huis vrijwel stofvrij is na de renovatie van 2 jaar geleden. Vocht is er ook niet te bekennen, alleen in de rivier 7 meter lager. Je hebt geen muizen gezien maar een Loire. Die leven hier in het bos en komen soms het huis in. Het zijn schattige bijna hand tamme beestjes met prachtige pluimstaarten die geen ziekten verspreiden of andere nare dingen doen. Als natuurliefhebber kijk ik er graag naar. Maar ik begrijp ook dat sommige mensen die uit de stad komen bang zijn voor alle dieren die ze niet kennen. Wellicht dat daardoor ook de frisse bos lucht verward is met bedomptheid?

The area is beautifully green and offers plenty of hiking opportunities. In terms of peace and quiet, there is a point of interest: the cottage is located on a through road. Although traffic is limited, it is clearly audible inside.

De omgeving is prachtig groen en biedt volop wandelmogelijkheden. Wat betreft rust is er wel een aandachtspunt: het huisje ligt aan een doorgaande weg. Hoewel het verkeer beperkt is, is het binnen duidelijk hoorbaar.
