The Finnish Kota has a sitting area, writing or dining table + chair, 2 sofa beds with reindeer skins and mattresses, coffee and tea making facilities and a wood stove with hot plate and is 8 m2. Intimate, cozy and very suitable for a 1-person retreat, or cozy with 2. The Kota has electricity and WIFI. With two people it is already cozy, a pet is of course welcome but we do not recommend in this nature house (with 2 people). Bathroom and fully equipped kitchen can be found in the part of the farm (toilet bucket available). Plumbing and kitchen are shared.Pets welcome, provided: At their own risk, raised/not aggressive, flea-treated, not barky, not left alone, leashed on the property due to our poultry, need (including pee) outside the yard, not in the sleeping quarters (on bed) or on our furniture. Please bring a crate if necessary.

Nature and surroundings

Somewhere in the Achterhoek stands a monumental farmhouse. In the yard, chickens, ducks, peacocks and pigeons scratch about. In the distance you can hear a cuckoo, golden oriole, horses graze in the meadow. A place out of time. Beautiful clearings in the forest invite meditation. Erve Veldink is a farm with a history dating back to the 14th century. The current buildings are 120+ years old and are listed buildings. They are located at the edge of the village of Haarlo (near Borculo) in the middle of the typical Achterhoek scenery, with its private character and beautiful vistas, where pieces of forest, meadows, fields and streams alternate. Beautiful for hiking, cycling and stargazing. The farm is occupied by a few permanent residents.

Except for the mosquitoes, I enjoyed it immensely! It is a cozy little house and everything else I needed was a minute's walk from me. I liked the atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.

The kota is small, but pleasant to stay in. You sleep on a wooden bench, with a thin mattress over it. This was actually not too bad! I had no muscle aches or other pains. Maybe it's even healthy! In the middle of summer there is an abundance of mosquitoes. This did keep me from sleeping at times. There is a mosquito net to stop the worst nuisance, and it is really nice and quiet. Both at night and during the day. No noisy guests. Most people are there for a quiet vacation.

I had a wonderful week in the kota. The weather was beautiful so it was also very nice to sit in the garden (there are several seats, hammocks, etc.) It is very quiet. The people are hospitable. They like to have a chat and do their best to make sure you have a good time. In the area you can cycle really nicely.
