This nature house is a farmhouse dating from 1850 that served as a basket weaver’s workshop until the middle of the last century. We have completely restored it ourselves. The living area on the ground floor is about 60 m2. French doors open onto a spacious terrace with a flower garden. All around, you have an unobstructed view of a landscaped garden bordered by trees. Behind it, a low-lying stream winds its way through the property, flowing past our yard via a waterfall. On the first floor is the mezzanine with a double bed, shower, and toilet. The decor strikes a balance between industrial and authentic: glass, steel, wood, concrete, and natural stone. We find it cozy and tasteful (of course). No Ikea knick-knacks; instead, a nice table, comfortable chairs, well-organized kitchen cabinets, and useful cooking utensils. Please note: it’s a 50-meter walk from your car across a gently sloping lawn.
Nature and surroundings
The studio is located on the outskirts of the village of Pierrefaites. You can hear the birds, the bees, the waterfall, and occasionally a chainsaw, lawn mower, or tractor. The terrain here is quite hilly. The village still has a bakery, but for serious grocery shopping you’ll need to go to Fayl Billot, which is four kilometers away. Nearby, you’ll find sleepy little towns like the fortified village of Langres (birthplace of Diderot) and Bourbonne-les-Bains (a spa town). Dijon is an hour away, and Vesoul is 45 minutes away. A little further on is Ronchamp, home to Le Corbusier’s Chapelle Notre-Dame du Haut—highly recommended. But you come here for the peace and quiet, for the flora and fauna: birds (the hoopoe!), frogs, salamanders, dragonflies, lizards, butterflies, the giant carpenter bee (!), wild boars, roe deer, foxes, squirrels, and badgers. Whether you want to bike or hike alone or with a loved one, lounge in a hammock, gaze at the stars, or read a book—or even write one—this is the perfect place to do it.

Wonderfully peaceful
Heerlijk rustg
The cottage has been beautifully and thoughtfully renovated. It has everything you need for a pleasant stay. It’s set back a bit from the road, making it very quiet—except for the countless birds!
Het huisje is heel mooi en ruimtelijk gerenoveerd. Alles aanwezig voor een aangenaam verblijf. Het ligt een stukje van de weg af en is daardoor heel rustig, op talloze vogels na!

The waterfall was beautiful to see, unfortunately we have not been able to discover much around the house due to the many rain. Many flea markets seen, and le Corbusier is really worth a visit, also visited the glass factory. Of the walks offered, unfortunately only 2 could tick off due to the weather, but that is very well taken care of.
It was a lovely cottage, on the property of the owner who was not there herself. Modern decor, fully equipped, a nice kitchen island! A lovely wood stove, where we could get warm after a walk in the rain. Together with the beautiful record collection and a delicious wine (thanks for that) we enjoyed ourselves.
This text is automatically translated.
