Nature house in l'Epine

Our house is nestled at an elevation of 1,000 meters in the Pre-Alps within the Baronnies Provence Regional Nature Park. Completely secluded and surrounded by natural forests, our house is a haven of peace. All our electricity is generated by solar panels, and our fresh water comes from a natural spring. Our guest house is part of a large farmhouse and offers plenty of privacy. You can rent the entire guest house or one or more rooms, depending on your group size. There are two kitchens available, as well as a spacious common room and dining room. The garden area is equipped for outdoor dining or simply relaxing in a hammock. A special area for children is set up for all kinds of activities. Emmanuel (French) and Geraldine (Australian) have lived on the property since 1992, joined by young people who enjoy this lifestyle. Emmanuel, a mountain guide, has extensive knowledge of this region. He can help you choose hiking trails, bike routes, charming medieval villages to explore, or markets to visit.

This region is where Provence meets the southern French Alps, so we get to enjoy both. It’s an ideal playground for nature lovers, with a wide variety of options for hiking and cycling—both off-road and on-road. There are many natural spots for swimming. It’s the perfect place for children. Farming here consists of small, organic, family-run farms that primarily raise sheep or goats and, traditionally, lavender as well. You often get the impression that time slows down here, far from the crowds. Spring here is quite special, with an amazing array of wildflowers—a true explosion of life and color. Fall is great for hiking, as the weather is cooler. We enjoy lovely warm summer days and cool evenings. This is the place to be when heat waves are hitting other areas. From here, you can visit well-known places such as Sisteron—the pearl of Provence—or discover the region’s hidden gems. The villages here are authentic and unspoiled by mass tourism, and the locals warmly welcome visitors.
