Our vacation home is smoke-free and equipped with every comfort, from TVs in the bedrooms to a charcoal barbecue, as well as bicycles, toys, board games, and puzzles for the kids. There is a private outdoor parking area for 3 cars. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. A washing machine is available. We’ll take care of washing the linens and bath towels. After all, it’s your vacation too—so sit back and enjoy!
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located in the rural surroundings of Merkem and is characterized by open landscapes. The vacation home is a detached house with a very large garden in which no fewer than 60 grapevines have been planted. About four kilometers away lies the De Blanckaert Provincial Nature Reserve, a beautiful nature reserve situated in the Merkem marshlands. This landscape is preserved by Natuurpunt as an open polder landscape. You can go for walks on the provincial hiking network, where you can plan your own route. A ready-made hiking trail takes you to the Madeliefje farm after a 45-minute walk, where you can enjoy delicious farm-fresh ice cream. From the vacation home, you can quickly reach the provincial bike network by bike, from which you can take beautiful rides through the polder landscape. Larger cities such as Ypres (12 km) and Diksmuide (10 km) are easily accessible by both bike and car. Both offer excellent tourist attractions. For example, you can go canoeing in Diksmuide.
