Our beautiful cottage that we have cozily decorated is located in the countryside between Letterkenny and Londonderry. It is a simple cottage where there is everything you need. The view from the living room is phenomenal, you can see for miles when it is clear. The house has a fully equipped simple kitchen, bathroom with tub and shower in the tub, two bedrooms with very good sofa beds and a camp bed including firm mattress and all the necessities. There is a high chair and some toys. The house is oil fired but there is also a fireplace that can be stoked up. In the utility room there is a washer and a dryer, there is also an oven and a fridge/freezer. As mentioned, the house is old but everything still works fine. In the morning you wake up to birds singing and you hear the familiar sounds of the farms in the area. The tranquility of the area combined with the cozy house, we always enjoy it to the fullest!
Nature and surroundings
The area lends itself to beautiful walks, many cultural attractions within an hour, hour and a half drive. These include the Mount Errigal that can be climbed, Old Bushmills Distillery, Giant's Causeway on the Northern Irish coast, Fanad Head Lighthouse and Slieve League. And these are just a few options of the many possibilities. The routes to these sights are an experience in themselves, given the beautiful surroundings and the many views. The town of Letterkenny has all the stores you need (Lidl, Aldi etc) and is about a 15-minute drive away. In St Johnston there is a butcher who also sells some fresh vegetables and a mini supermarket. In Raphoe there are some more stores and a larger supermarket. The house is about 1 hour and 20 minutes drive from Belfast International, a car is recommended though, there is little public transport in the area apart from the fact that it is very hilly. There is a bus passing in front of the house but it does not stop there.
