Nature and surroundings

EifelThe Eifel is an extremely varied, unspoilt natural landscape in the west of Germany. The Volcanic Eifel lies at the heart of the region. With its distinctive volcanic cones, the associated maars and the deep valley incisions of the Lieser, Kyll and Kleine Kyll rivers, the Volcanic Eifel offers hikers and cyclists of all ages and abilities numerous places to visit. Protection and the surrounding area: In the town itself, the Burberg with its wild rock formations at the top and the remains of Roman settlements is a "must-see" walk. Cyclists are recommended to take the Kosmos cycle path from Daun to Meerfeld. In summer, you can enjoy a relaxing swim in the Meerfeld maar, which is also well worth a visit at other times of the year. Manderscheid with its two castles and the wild and romantic Lieserpfad trail is also one of the highlights in the immediate vicinity. Otherwise, there are wonderful hiking and cycling opportunities in all directions directly from the house, even without a fixed route, and there is a large playground with a meadow for children in the village. The Nerother Kopf with its tall old beech forest and the Freudenkoppe castle ruins is a mystical experience, especially in foggy weather. Protection and a little further afield: Kasselburg Eagle and Wolf Park in Pelm, Daun Wildlife Park, Gerolstein with its bizarre rock formations of primeval coral reefs, maars around Gillenfeld and Schalkenmehren, Strohn lava bomb, geyser in Wallenborn, Himmeroth MonasteryHiking:Lieserpfad, Eifelsteig, Vulkaneifelpfade, premium hiking trail directly from Schutz (Burbergweg), detailed flyers and descriptions of the hiking trails in the immediate vicinity are available in the house or at the tourist information office in Daun. Cycling:everywhere low-traffic, mostly steep roads (bike/road bike)

We were disappointed that we couldn't sort more waste. You can return plastic bottles and beverage cans to the store. But other plastics and cans can't be sorted separately. You can, however, put yard waste and glass in a container in the village.

A very nice little house with a stunning view. It was really nice that the beds were made and there were high-quality towels. A lovely welcome gift upon arrival and a homeowner who was easy to reach. We were there during the heat wave, and even with the good window coverings, it does get very hot inside. But everything is very neat and of top quality.

What does “contactless stay” mean?
You can stay here without personal contact with the host, for example via a key safe or digital access. A contactless stay does not always have to be mandatory.
