In the yard of our converted forest farmhouse is this cozy tiny house. The forest path starts at the end of the garden, deer graze all around and birds chirp. The cottage has a small sleeping loft (accessible by steep stairs, headroom 1.70m) with a double bed and a sofa bed downstairs for a possible third guest. Furthermore, the cottage has a gas stove, combi-oven/microwave, refrigerator, filter coffee machine and kettle. Heating by means of a gas stove. Toilet and shower are located 5 meters from the cottage in the large house (exclusive use for guests). There are garden chairs at the cottage and a BBQ can be borrowed. Towels, kitchen linen and bed linen are included. In the kitchen, basic foodstuffs (coffee/tea/rice/oil etc) are provided for use, with the principle of "replenish as you use something up." There is a bookcase with books and games. Optional DIY breakfast: bake-off breads, fresh eggs, fresh orange juice, fruit, sugar bread and toppings.
Nature and surroundings
The forests of Beetsterzwaag are large and have many hiking possibilities. The cottage is also right on the LAW Zevenwoudenpad. In addition, there are many bicycle routes around Beetsterzwaag and bicycles can be borrowed. There also starts a challenging mountain bike route of 31km at 300m from the cottage (mtb for rent in the village). In the vegetable garden and our small greenhouse we try to grow vegetables, we also have a herb garden and a large garden with fruit trees and a natural pond. There are 9 cozy chickens walking freely through the garden. In the village (1km away) is a supermarket, bakery, drugstore and you will find several restaurants and boutiques. Beetsterzwaag is a 30-minute drive from the Frisian lakes where you can rent sloops and sailing boats and also half an hour from the cities of Leeuwarden & Groningen. In general, it is wonderfully quiet around the cottage, but we do sit next to a working farm and in addition we can hear the highway if the wind is wrong.
