Nature house in Jausiers

The chalet is situated on its own on a 3,200 m² Alpine meadow at an elevation of 1,350 meters. It is a wooden house with a galvanized roof. The balcony is a wonderful place to sit, especially in the evening sun. We live on the edge of the Mercantour National Park—a stunning area. The Col de la Bonnette/Restefonds is the highest pass in Europe. There are wonderful hiking trails nearby, as well as opportunities for swimming, paragliding, or rafting. It’s a wonderful way to relax. Enjoy the silence and tranquility. And at night, marvel at the incredible starry sky. The cottage is located in the Ubaye Valley. From the village of Jausiers, you head uphill toward Nice, to the Col de la Bonnette (the highest in Europe, 2,802 meters). After a series of hairpin turns, you’ll pass the village of Lans. The road curves around it there, and you’ll already be able to see the cottage down below on the right. Where the guardrail ends, a small road—the CVO 2, Route de la Chalanette—branches off to the right and heads downhill.

We live on the edge of the Mercantour National Park. It’s a beautiful area. The Col de la Bonnette/Restefonds is the highest pass in Europe and a favorite among cyclists and motorcyclists. On the other side, you’ll end up in Nice. But the Col d’Állos and Col de Larche (toward Italy, with the Maginot Line forts) are also beautiful. St. Paul, with Combre Brémond and Fouillouse, is also very lovely. And/or the Col de Vars—enjoy some cake at the Refuge Napoléon. The house has hiking maps and various brochures featuring hikes in the area. And the Michelin Green Guide to the Southern French Alps. Road trips to Nice, Briançon, Guillestre, Lac de Serre-Ponçon, Cuneo, Aosta, and Turin are fun.
