It was an unhygienic house that reeked of dogs. We have a dog ourselves, but if you keep everything clean—like beating out a rug, vacuuming, and washing it regularly—the house won’t start to smell. The smell permeated all the way into the bedroom. Even the cushions on the outdoor lounge sofa were covered in dog hair.
