The cottage is located on the privately owned Domaine d'Al Chai in the middle of nature. The cottage's thick stone walls, combined with modern double-glazing and electric heating, guarantee coolness in summer and warmth in winter. The open sitting room on the ground floor features a comfortable corner sofa with lighting for quiet reading at night. The dining area contains a wooden table with 4 chairs. The small open-plan kitchen contains modern appliances; larger amenities include an induction hob, refrigerator, oven/microwave and coffee and tea making equipment. Through a steep staircase you reach the mezzanine with a double bed (160x200cm), with next to it a small bedroom with two narrow single beds (80x190cm). The small modern bathroom has a walk-in shower, WC and sink. Towels included. One of the highlights of the cottage is the walled courtyard garden in an old ruin. Surrounded by the scent of rosemary and sage, there you feel completely shielded from the outside world. You can hear the crickets in summer, the deer belling at sunset, and the owl calling after sunset. The starry sky is breathtaking because of the low light pollution in the area. The Milky Way can be seen beautifully, as can shooting stars in August. The trees and vineyards are covered in lichen, a sign of the clean air. The domaine includes a natural vineyard and on the surrounding hills the walls of remnants of centuries-old vineyards are still visible. There are thousands of kilometers of hiking trails from the house, from small paths to 'grandes randonnées', and Cahors (7km) is on the route of Santiago de Compostella. With the historic town of Cahors with its ancient food market (Wednesdays& Saturdays) a 10-minute drive away, it combines the best of both worlds.
