The department of Lot, is named after one of France's most beautiful rivers, the Lot. It is an attractive vacation spot in all seasons. Through the department runs the pilgrimage route to the Spanish Santiago de Compostella which leads past many special towns and villages. This makes walking and cycling a wonderful activity here. Cahors is the capital of the Lot. Cahors is also the name of the regional wine and is an extremely charming town. The beautiful Bastides that offer phenomenal views of the surroundings are also more than worth a visit.
