Nature house in Moncarapacho

We converted this old donkey stable in 2021 into a cozy apartment with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathrooms, a luxury kitchen (fully equipped) and living room with TV. The cottage has a private terrace with dining table and barbecue. From the terrace you have views of the hills in the hinterland and you look out over the newly planted garden, which is increasingly in bloom. We have preserved many authentic elements and the houses have been rebuilt in the old style wherever possible. All this in a rural, quiet environment and close to the sea. In winter and summer it is extra comfortable because we have underfloor heating, floor cooling and fans in all bedrooms. We find it important to use renewable energy wherever possible. For example, we use solar energy to obtain hot water and electricity. We also pump water from our own well.

The cottage is located in a beautiful natural environment between the villages of Fuseta and Moncarapacho in the Eastern Algarve. You can find within a relatively short distance from the quinta very varied landscape types, such as; hills, steppe, beach, lagoon, forest, cliff, salt pan, marsh and estuary. There are many olive, almond and carob trees all around the quinta and it is teeming with birds, the most notable of which is the hoopoe. The Ria Formossa nature reserve is easily accessible by bicycle or car. (The Ria Formosa is one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. The coastal area can be compared to the Dutch Wadden Sea. With an area of about 20,000 hectares, Ria Formosa is very extensive. As many as 1,500 different animal species live there and many native plants grow there. Furthermore, there are beautiful hikes in the area inland to the São Miguel up, or Cerro da Cabeça behind Moncarapacho.
