In the medieval village of Villers Sainte Gertrude (12 km from Durbuy), you’ll find this former bakery cottage that sleeps 6 people. The cottage features a living room with a wood stove and a dining table, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with a toilet, two showers, and two sinks. There is a TV with all standard channels and a DVD player, as well as a radio/CD player. The cottage has 3 bedrooms for 2 people each; a baby crib can be added if needed. Right next to the cottage is a small garden and a covered porch, and we can set up a BBQ upon request. Across the street lies the Villers property, featuring a beautiful park-like garden with many lovely old trees and a playground. It’s ideal for when the children want to play safely.
Nature and surroundings
Several hiking trails start right from the village square, winding through fields and forests and along meandering streams. While other places are getting busier, here you can still enjoy the benefits of fresh air, small-scale farming, and livestock raising. The village itself has only 80 residents, so you’re immediately out in nature. It lies at the transition between the Condroz, with its rolling fields, and the Ardennes, with its forests. Durbuy is 12 km away and La Roche is 35 km away.

Frederik is gastvrij en open. Het huisje is mooi schoon en de houtkachel is een fijne toevoeging

Gezellig bakkershuisje met rustieke elementen.
Goed uitgeruste keuken.
Mooie ruime badkamer met aangenomen douche.
De houtkachel maakt het af.
Wij verbleven gedurende de herfst waardoor de weinige lichtinval in het huisje absoluut geen stoorzender was. Tijdens de lange zomeravonden is dat misschien wel het geval.Rustig gelegen huisje midden in het dorp.

Een karakteristiek huisje, in het centrum van het dorp achter de kerk. De oneerlijke service (zie hieronder) geeft een lagere beoordeling.
Pluspunten:
- Best groot huisje
- Authentieke details zoals houten balken etc.
- Omgeving is prachtig met bossen en heuvels. Wandelingen vanaf het huisje prima mogelijk.
Minpunten:
- Weinig ramen dus weinig daglicht binnen
- Op de slaapkamer boven een bed dat doorligt (na 2 weken nog steeds last van mijn rug). Dat past niet in een zo duur vakantiehuisje
- Drie glazen die in de kast stonden waren al gebarsten, dat is gevaarlijk en leidde er ook toe dat een glas barstte tijdens het afwassen. Gelukkig geen letsel
- Boiler ging stuk tijdens verblijf maar dat is goed en snel opgelost door de verhuurder
Reactie van verhuurder:
Het huisje ligt aan de rand van het middeleeuwse dorpje met dorpspleintje, kerk en kasteeltje en ja die zijn van steen gemaakt. Het huisje ligt zelf niet midden in het groen maar aan de achterkant aan de groene velden en het dorp ben je zo uit en overal velden, bossen, riviertjes met vele wandelroutes. In het kasteeltje zijn soms groene klassen op bezoek en dan hoor je wel eens wat kinderen. Wij verhuren dit huisje al 14 jaar en hebben nagenoeg alleen maar positieve reacties en scoren hiermee een 9/10. We hebben een klein bedrag van de borg afgetrokken omdat het huisje vies was achtergelaten en glazen gebroken. Dit hebben we in de 14 jaar nog maar 5 x moeten doen.Het huisje ligt vlak naast de kerk met bebouwing bijna helemaal rondom. In de directe omgeving van
het huisje dus weinig groen, juist best veel steen. Ook vanuit het huisje zie je vooral steen. De tuin van het huisje bevat ook veel steen.
In iets wijdere omtrek (rond het dorp) wel veel groen gelukkig
Ligt dicht bij een plek waar veel schoolkinderen verbleven, behoorlijk wat herrie in de tijd dat we er waren.
