Nature house in Oudelande

The cottage is compact. Small shower, small sink. But it has everything you need. I found the stairs to the attic too steep. I didn’t enjoy sleeping in the attic. I couldn’t stand up straight, and going to the bathroom at night wasn’t easy for me because of the steep, narrow staircase. It was very hot at the time, though there were fans. Fortunately, it cooled down a bit in the evening, so a breeze could blow through. The doors could be opened, but the windows downstairs couldn’t. I didn’t dare sleep with the doors open.
The cottage was nicely furnished, and everything was provided—from soap in the bathroom to salt and pepper in the kitchen. Mosquito screens in the attic would be handy! Otherwise, it was neat and clean.

Het huisje is compact. Kleine douche, klein wastafeltje. Maar compleet. De trap naar de vliering vond ik te steil. Slapen op de vliering vond ik niet prettig. Ik kon niet rechtop staan, en in de nacht naar het toilet was voor mij niet makkelijk, door de steile, smalle trap. Het was op het moment erg warm, wel stonden er ventilatoren. Gelukkig koelde het in de avond wat af, zodat het kon doorwaaien. De deuren konden wel open, maar de ramen beneden niet. Ik durfde niet met de deuren open te slapen.
Het huisje was prima ingericht, en alles was aanwezig. Van zeep in de badkamer tot zout en peper in de keuken. Horren op de zolder zou wel handig zijn! Was verder netjes en schoon.

Uitzicht over paarden en schapen, heel veel ruimte er om heen. Prachtig! De rust en stilte heb ik mogen ervaren. Alleen vogels, zó mooi!

It could have been a 9 if the temperature in the cottage hadn’t been 30 degrees during the hottest days of June. There was one fan, but that was nowhere near enough. We had to go to great lengths to lower the temperature, using drafts and other methods. It never dropped below 25 degrees, so the fans we brought ourselves were absolutely necessary to get any sleep at all. Unfortunately, the air coolers that the hosts had ordered weren’t there for our weekend. We met the hosts just before we left on Sunday. We didn’t see or speak to them at any other time during our stay. And that was a shame, especially since you’re staying on their property. The cottage and the surroundings are beautiful, and they’ve thought of just about everything inside the cottage, but because it was so incredibly hot inside, you don’t really notice those details. And that was a shame.

Had een 9 kunnen zijn als de temperatuur in het huisje geen 30 graden was geweest tijdens de heetste dagen van juni. Er stond 1 ventilator maar dat was ruim onvoldoende. We moesten er veel aan doen om deze naar beneden te krijgen met doortochten etc. Lager dan 25 graden is het niet gekomen, zodat de zelf meegebrachte ventilatoren hard nodig waren om enigszins te kunnen slapen. De luchtkoelers die de gastheer en gastvrouw besteld hadden waren er niet voor ons weekend helaas. We hebben de gastvrouw-en heer ontmoet vlak voordat we op zondag weggingen. Verder tijdens ons verblijf niet gezien of gesproken. En dat was jammer, zeker omdat je op hun erf verblijft. Het huisje en de omgeving zijn prachtig en er is in het huisje aan heel veel gedacht, maar omdat het zo ongeloofelijk warm was in het huisje heb je daar minder oog voor. En dat was jammer.
