The wooden house (5 x 5 m) is idyllically situated in the orchard, as seen from the main house. Simple furnishings: wooden bed 140x200, mini-kitchen (electric kettle, teapot, thermos, cooking utensils, pots, pan, plates, cups, silverware, coffee filter + packets). Sink with (fresh) water supply. Solar lamp, candle lanterns, electric light. Bed linens and towels available on-site as an option. Vaulted cellar or refrigerator in the house for food storage. Outdoor toilet next door. The toilet, bathroom, and kitchen in the house are available for shared use. The floor is insulated with fired natural cork. Excellent indoor climate. A small covered porch provides shade. Sun deck next door. Gas heating and/or electric radiators can be booked as an add-on. Internet access in the house about 50 m away; Wi-Fi available upon request. Occasionally there are guests in the yurt, but they’re out of sight. Restaurants are 5 and 10 minutes away. Pets are welcome as long as they’re on a leash and don’t bother Reen. Every now and then a spider or fly… that’s just nature.

Nature and surroundings

Peace & nature, a wide variety of trees and wild herbs. The landscape is hilly, reaching up to 400 meters; also known as the “Palatinate Tuscany.” No industry in the area, and organic farming has been practiced here for decades. Hiking and biking trails, including the Veldenzweg. Not very touristy. Culture/Nature: Castles, including Lichtenberg in Kusel/Donnersberg, about 30 min. away (hiking paradise in Celtic country, Celtic village). Wineries. The Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve, about 45 min. away (natural lake and dining options). Disibodenberg–Hildegard von Bingen Pilgrimage Trail, about 30 minutes away. The medieval towns of Meisenheim and Otterberg, with dining options and hiking trails, are about 15 minutes away. Idar-Oberstein, the “Land of Gemstones.” Wolfstein limestone mine and the Wolfsweg and Königsbergweg trails. Saltworks—hike along the saltworks and the Nahe River in the spa town of Bad Kreuznach. Dining options: 5 min. to the sports hall (simple Italian cuisine) and 10 min. away in Wolfstein. Want to go swimming? There’s a beautiful outdoor pool in Wolfstein (about 10 min.) and lakes about 40 min. away.

We really enjoyed the whole atmosphere in the charming little cottage and the surrounding garden.
Carolina's personal and warm manner makes you feel like you're visiting friends. It's just wonderfully laid-back.

    Nature, peace & environment: 5 /5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this charming nature house in the countryside. Carolina welcomed us with the utmost warmth and hospitality. The nature house is decorated with great care and is very cozy, and Carolina even thought of the little details herself—like fresh flowers, towels, water, a mosquito net… With her easygoing and open personality, you feel right at home. Her enchanting and beautiful garden features numerous little seating areas that are perfect for relaxing at any time of day. Anyone looking for peace and nature will feel very, very at home here.

Good stay for a while. Absolutely no luxury but very basic. Camping in a gazebo.

    Nature, peace & environment: 5 /5

Under the trees in an orchard. No coffee maker, no TV, (almost) no coverage for the phone. Too bad we were there during Pentecost, with three days over 30 degrees it was quite warm. All attractions in the vicinity were closed because of Pentecost as well as stores, cafeterias and supermarkets. Because the 4th day with 33 degrees would be very hot we left earlier than planned. Response landlord: Thank you very much for the feedback. WLAN is always available for guests in the main house and on request also in the garden house. Feel free to ask, even if you have a different wish. There is a coffee machine in the common kitchen in the house, which may be used by guests. Tip: when booking, each guest receives an overview of places of interest and restaurants - please check before your stay the opening hours during holidays. At Pentecost, for example, the restaurants in Wolfstein were closed due to the annual Maikurfest (there were music and culinary activities there).

Although it is rather unusual to spend the night in a garden shed in winter, it was a great experience for us. The hostess made sure that a gas heater was turned on in the hut before we arrived. And although it was freezing outside and the hut is not insulated, it was nice and cozy when we arrived. The hostess also gave us an electric heater. We paid a previously agreed small amount for the use of both heaters. The hostess was also very helpful and obliging and gave us towels and old blankets to insulate the windows and door. We also had cuddly blankets, beds for our dogs and warm clothes. So we were well equipped and when it was a bit colder, we just cuddled up. All in all, we felt very comfortable. For the New Year, the hostess invited us to breakfast together and she is generally a very warm and welcoming person!

    Nature, peace & environment: 5 /5

The garden cottage is in a quiet location on the owner's property. The main house, which we were allowed to use (bathroom, kitchen) is only a few steps away and yet the garden house is situated in such a way that you really have your retreat and it is a little more hidden. The place itself is very quiet, so that even New Year's Eve was only accompanied by a few firecrackers and rockets, which was over by 1 a.m. at the latest. You can go hiking in the village and the surrounding villages. A tip: The old monastery ruins in Disibodenberg and a trip to Heidelberg Castle are also worthwhile.
