Our small, rustic vacation village features three log cabins, all with the same floor plan. With a floor area of approximately 33 square meters, they feature a large living room with a sofa bed for 2 people, a bedroom for 4 people, a kitchenette, a closet, and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. All rooms are fully furnished; heating is provided by gas stoves, and lighting is powered by solar energy. Guests must bring their own bedding (duvet covers and sheets), as well as towels and table linens. Hammock rentals are available for sleeping in the woods. Below the houses, a meadow stretches down to the Our River, which forms the border—a place where children can run around and play—plus a playground with a swing, a seesaw, and a sandbox. The Our is shallow, clean, and teeming with fish; here, children can swim, float on an air mattress, or splash Dad. A little further downstream, in a bend in the river, there’s a spot where you can swim. It’s worth staying longer: The second week is 15% off, and the third week is 20% off.
Nature and surroundings
This small vacation village offers pure nature for the whole family. It’s located in a quiet valley basin 1 km below the village of Gemünd, right on the Our River—spanning a total of 5 hectares of meadows, woods, rocks, a river, and a mountain stream, in the heart of the German-Luxembourg Nature Park. The vacation homes, each standing alone at the foot of the mountain, have plenty of space right in front of them for playing, relaxing, and barbecuing, and are separated from one another by hedges, embankments, or clusters of trees. On the property: the Our River, which forms the border with Luxembourg, for swimming and fishing; a large meadow for running around and a children’s playground; as well as rocks for climbing, surrounded by an oak forest, oak hedges, and a mountain stream. We are self-sufficient with our own solar power and our own reed-based wastewater treatment system. There are many hiking trails, and it’s 10 km to the small town of Vianden, Luxembourg, with its imposing castle and wonderful outdoor swimming pool.

Basic. But no worse than camping. We enjoyed a hot shower and a toilet. We were also able to cook, and there was a refrigerator with a freezer compartment. If you adjust to it, you can enjoy it too.
We had good weather, but when the weather’s bad, you’re pretty much on top of each other with a family of three kids (just like camping).
We had a great time, and I’d definitely recommend it if you know what you’re getting into.Basic.
Even though we were in contact with some neighbors (in the other cottages), we felt like we were alone in nature. There was plenty of nature and space. It wasn’t always quiet because there were some young people staying in the cottages a few down the line, but that didn’t bother us too much. We had a great time.

We stayed in cottage number 3. The owner is a very nice man who’s happy to provide information about the area and so on. The balcony overlooks a meadow and a small stretch of river. Unfortunately, the entire log cabin has settled unevenly, which means the doors and windows hardly work properly. Everything was dirty and covered in cobwebs. The cabin hasn’t been properly maintained for years. The power goes out regularly due to overloading. For example, you can’t run a kettle and a coffee maker at the same time. This is because the electricity is off-grid and generated by solar panels. Despite the beautiful weather, we even had a power outage one morning because the batteries were dead. The system is quite outdated. The furnishings are very basic, with old furniture that snags your clothes and worn-out garden chairs. We ended up borrowing a few garden chairs from somewhere else.
All in all, it seems as though everything was made in the ’70s and has had little to no upgrades since then.Wij hadden huisje nummer 3.
Beautiful surroundings. It’s a shame there isn’t an unobstructed view of the river. The immediate area is well-maintained and tidy. Unfortunately, at the entrance to the road, you have to maneuver through what looks like a garbage dump. I don’t think the owner can do anything about this, but it is annoying.
Mooie omgeving.

The cottage itself was very primitive.
Het huisje zelf was erg primitief.
Space, peace and nature were great. Constantly singing birds and in the middle of the forest.
