Three and a half hours drive from Utrecht, but really in France, we rent this house with fully fenced garden of over 2,000 m2. At the edge of a small village where, completely French, sometimes a rooster crows or the dog barks but otherwise you only hear birds or village sounds. The terrace invites to long evenings with a bbq or fire and when it gets cooler, the wood stove inside (the basic heating is electric). The house is fully insulated and equipped with new electricity, plumbing and kitchen but where possible the original parts have been preserved. The chimney dates from 1788, the tiled floor (bring slippers!) and beams have been restored. There are six made beds but a crib or crib could be added. And there are plenty of towels and other textiles. What you don't usually think about beforehand: there are rarely, if ever, mosquitoes here.... In July and August, arrivals and departures are on Saturdays only.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage borders the French Ardennes. De douche is warm en krachtig, de bedden zijn comfortabel, en er liggen prachtige (extra) dikke wollen dekens. Het huis werd ontzettend schoon opgeleverd. En er ligt een prachtige vloer in de woonkamer, een genot om een week lang te bekijken:).
En niet onbelangrijk: de hond had het enorm naar zijn zin in de grote tuin.
