An oasis of peace, overlooking hills and meadows. The house is located on the border of the Correze and Dordogne. It is rural and yet at the same time close to tourist attractions. The cottage was once a farmhouse and is located between the double barn and the owners' farm. As soon as you enter, the old fireplaces in the charming kitchen and the red-brick living room are particularly striking. The downstairs bedroom (bed 150x200) is cool in summer because of its thick walls and has access to the garden. The upstairs bedroom (bed 150x200 and 80-200) is wonderfully spacious and has a rural feel because of the red stone and wooden beams. The bathroom (rain shower and double sink) and separate toilet are also upstairs. On two sides is a garden with terrace so you can always sit in the sun or shade. You have private use of the swimming pool, which is surrounded by deck chairs. The owners' lovely dog (Kooiker) is called Luna. The house, gardens and surrounding area are non-smoking.
Nature and surroundings
In the area you will still find the French charm of yesteryear, à la campagne, without the many tourists. This green region has mostly small farms and many lovely hamlets and villages that have been on the map since the Middle Ages. The Périgord is known for its walnuts, truffles and foie-gras. The hills make it very varied and lend themselves well to hiking, cycling and touring by car. Sights are plentiful, such as medieval St Robert, picturesque Terrason-Lavilledieu, the caves of Tourtoirac and romantic Hautefort with its imposing castle. Uzerche, Excideuil, Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Pompadour and Bergerac are also within easy driving distance. The nearest large town of Brive-la-Gaillare (30min) is a very pleasant stopping place with its many restaurants and local stores.
