Want to get away from it all for a few days? Then unwind in our stylish guesthouse with sauna and jacuzzi, located on the edge of the Fochtelooër Veen and near the national park Drents Friese Wold. The guesthouse has a spacious and extra long box spring bed (2.10 m) for a good night's sleep. From the cozy sitting area with sofa bed you have a great view over the beautifully landscaped garden. You have your own kitchen at your disposal. In short: you lack nothing and you only have to unpack your suitcase. In the evening you can admire the sunset from one of the benches or in the hammocks in the walking garden. The private covered veranda with sitting area, lighting and heater guarantees wonderful summer evenings in the Frisian outdoors. The use of the sauna or jacuzzi can be optionally booked and In the summer months there is a shared swimming pool which can be used free of charge. Electric bikes can be charged in our storage room.

In the beautiful wooded surroundings of nature reserves you will find endless opportunities for hiking, biking or you can enjoy yourself as a peace seeker or nature lover. For the sporty active, Appelscha offers fantastic MTB routes in the old, overgrown dune areas and there are beautiful opportunities in the area for canoeing, supping or climbing. Just under half an hour's drive from here are beautiful lakes with large sandy beaches, such as the Blauwe Meer or the Nije Hemelriek. There are several nice trips to activities, museums or cities nearby. The monumental villages of Veenhuizen and Frederiksoord both received Unesco World Heritage status in 2021 and are definitely worth a visit. Special museums include the prison museum in Veenhuizen or the Drents Museum in Assen. The beer brewery Maallust, where you can experience the brewing process amidst the beautiful kettles is close by and recently won the "Best Beer of the Netherlands 2022" award.
