General: Our nature house is a completely detached property located on the grounds of our rustic home, in the heart of “De Drentse Aa” National Park. The studio is nearly climate-neutral, with underfloor heating powered by a pellet boiler and electricity generated by solar panels. User-friendly waste separation facilities are provided to ensure a sustainable stay. The studio accommodates 2 (or 3, upon request) people and features 1 large bedroom with a box-spring bed (double) and, on the other side of the room divider, another double bed. You can sit outside on the private terrace. The beds are made upon arrival, and all linens are provided. You can make coffee using an espresso machine (prefer filter coffee? Feel free to let us know) with the provided cups. There’s also olive oil, salt, and pepper, and a few varieties of tea. At nature house, we’re committed to supporting nature and biodiversity.
Nature and surroundings
Our surroundings offer many opportunities to enjoy nature and/or engage in sports. Three well-known long-distance hiking trails (LAWs)—the Pieterpad, the Drenthepad, and the Groot Frieslandpad—converge just a 15-minute walk (1.2 km) away. The village of Zuidlaren (5 km away) has all the amenities you need, such as supermarkets, a bakery, a market, and more. A 12-minute bike ride away is the P+R Westlaren stop, from which a bus departs every 20 minutes for downtown Groningen. Groningen is known for the Martini Tower and its lively city center with outdoor cafes and the so-called “hofjes” (courtyards). Groningen is also a college town, which guarantees a lively atmosphere.
