Nature house in Barchem

It’s bigger than it looks and had everything we needed. With windows all around, it feels like you’re outside, even though you’re inside. The beds are very comfortable, with good mattresses, and the box bed is very cozy (but not small—the beds are full-size).

There are several nice spots to sit outside, with the Canadian bear chairs as the icing on the cake. I spent hours sitting there with a book and delicious herbal tea from the owners’ own garden or from the farm shop nearby. The bar table was much more comfortable than we expected. That was partly due to the comfortable chairs that come with it, but the table was also a bit larger than we’d anticipated. Perfect for board games! The kitchen is very basic, so you’ll have no trouble whipping up a simple, everyday meal. If you want to cook a full meal, you’re better off bringing your own supplies.

Het is groter dan het lijkt en het had alles dat wij nodig hadden. Door de ramen overal lijkt het alsof je buiten bent, ook al ben je binnen. Bedden liggen heel fijn, goede matrassen, en de bedstee is heel knus (maar niet klein, bedden zijn normaal formaat).

Je kunt op verschillende plekken fijn buiten zitten, met als kers op de taart de Canadian bear chairs. Uren heb ik daar gezeten met een boekje en heerlijke kruidenthee uit eigen tuin van de eigenaren of van de boerderijwinkel vlak bij. De bartafel was veel comfortabeler dan we dachten. Dat kwam onder andere door de fijne stoelen die er bij zitten maar de tafel was ook wat groter dan we hadden verwacht. Ideaal voor bordspelletjes! Keuken is heel basic dus voor een gewone, simpele maaltijd kun je prima je weg vinden. Als je uitgebreid wil koken, kun je beter je eigen spullen meenemen.

It really is a paradise; we completely unwound. What a luxury—to wake up every morning surrounded by nothing but trees, birds, and squirrels. There’s so much to see and do in the area, and the nature is beautiful. Even though it was peak season, we didn’t find it crowded and often went for walks all by ourselves (compared to, for example, the Oisterwijkse Vennen in Brabant). We also went swimming at the outdoor pool in Ruurlo, which is highly recommended in warm weather and only a 10-minute drive away. Unfortunately, for health reasons, we weren’t able to go biking, but that would be a great option here.

Echt een paradijs, we zijn helemaal tot rust gekomen. Wat een luxe en een om elke ochtend alleen maar bomen, vogels en eekhoorns om je heen te hebben. In de omgeving is enorm veel te zien en te doen en de natuur is prachtig. Ondanks het hoogseizoen vonden wij het niet druk en liepen we vaak alleen (in vergelijking met bijvoorbeeld de Oisterwijkse Vennen in Brabant). We zijn ook gaan zwemmen in het openluchtzwembad in Ruurlo, ook een aanrader met warm weer en maar 10 min met de auto. Vanwege gezondheidsredenen hebben we helaas niet kunnen fietsen maar dat zal hier heel goed kunnen.

I really liked the cottage.

A wonderfully peaceful spot to spend a few days doing as little as possible.

The cottage is tastefully and thoughtfully furnished and equipped with all the amenities. A comfortable bed, a nice kitchen with good appliances, and pleasant air conditioning, which came in handy.

Het huisje is smaakvol en slim ingericht en van alle gemakken voorzien. Goed bed, fijne keuken, met goede apparatuur en fijne airco, die goed van pas kwam.

A particularly beautiful spot, with a lovely wooded garden, perfect for just relaxing and doing nothing, with plenty of privacy. There are great mountain bike trails in the area.

Bijzonder mooie plek, met fijne bostuin, voor even helemaal niets, met veel privacy. Mooie mountainbike routes in de omgeving.
