We were warmly welcomed by the owner, who came by the day after we arrived—with no strings attached—to give us a few great tips on places to see in the area—and they all turned out to be really worth visiting (we didn’t get to see everything, but we’ll save that for next time :). Even in cool weather, the garden is a wonderful place to sit; it offers plenty of privacy and a lovely view of the fields behind the cottage—very peaceful. Noordpolderzijl (the Netherlands’ last tidal harbor) is within biking distance and is highly recommended if you love open spaces, fresh air, and water!
